kseries.rookie
Good evening all, The previous owner of what is now my car has done a sweet driveway-spec paint job. It's fairly hideously excecuted/prepped but it will do for now. In the mean time I want to tidy up a few things here and there, so I want to clean the over spray on the lights. I tried Brakleen, elbow grease and a rag - this did eventually work after a good 20-30 seconds of rubbing in the same spot. What I asking is if there is anything else that would get rid of it all a little easier? I tried meth spirits, this also didn't really work. I could give thinners a go? But yeah - has anyone else had any success with another product? Cheers, looking forward to the response
yeah yeah na
if its 2k paint you will need to use cutting compound, the sort of stuff you use to polish paint, if its enamel or 1k/dulon a good mp thinner should get it off.

Bling
Razorblade might work. try on a non obvious spot first. Have used one to remove tints from windows before. I'm assuming glass headlights.
cubastreet
If it's glass, steel wool normally works well.
kseries.rookie
Ah, shit sorry I should o mentioned - it's the tail lights. Which are plastic so I think steel wool would scratch it up I'll give thinners a jam and see how I get on. It appears to be 2k, but could be wrong. Razor blade would work. but could catch on the plastic and cause more damage - but thanks tho
evil_si
Razor blades are used on glass headlights, steel wool scratches shit, i just caught my mrs cleaning one of the house windows with steel wool, dried it off and showed her the scoured glass.. her reply oooh Id be very careful about thinners on the tail lights, generally melts if left on more than a few seconds, id try a small area first. chriscross
yeah id get some 2000 grit sand paper wet or dry. use water and and lightly sand the over spray off then get a good cutting conpound and hand buff it up! this works better with a small buffer but your hand will do fine, just takes longer! press hard and fast when doing it by hand! never ever use 2pac thinners on any plastic trims etc, it will melt your lights, 1k thenners can melt them to so just watch it! as for windows use a shape razer blade, dont use anything else, keep using shape ones! hope this helps

This. The CRC shit in the red tin works wonders for getting voer spray off all sorts.
Sambo
As above, cutting compound (or jif).
Bling
jif doesn't scratch plastic?
JR7073
Petrol is the best cleaning agent removes all sorts and evaporates off , have used it for glues, oils and other things. mineral turps is also good and i suppose paint thinners if you have them. but petrol works i was always cautious about using it but my old man is soo old school and uses it all the time and its the bomb.
