WANTED: Reliable, quality electroplater

Snoozin

Recommended Posts

I have a car lot of nuts, bolts, screws, clips, catches and got knows what else I want gold zinc plated, as per factory.

Auckland based.

Any recommendations? Sheepers already recommended a place that was apparently awesome but they went into liquidation.

Absolute cheapness is not a necessity.

What prep work needs to be done to your fasteners before dropping them off at one of these big commercial electroplaters?

Can you just throw all your old rusty, greasy, covered in paint and silicone seatant bolts into a box and take them there? Or do you need to clean and wire wheel all of the old plating off first?

Rigg said to me I can just bring them the dirty fasteners and they'd take care of em... this is the option I prefer, as they'll clean them to how they want them which I would hope will achieve a better result or more consistent result.

Platemasters said they'd prefer them to be free of paint and grease.

Old plating seems to be ok?
