bugn8r
Does anybody know a place in Christchurch where I could get my wheels unbolted? Elite wheels want $30 per wheel just to unbolt them! Cheers

BlownCorona
unbolt or unweld?
bugn8r
Just unbolt but they need an allen key fitting. Any ideas? I tried an allen key obviously but it just rounded its edges
peteretep
Doesn't sound too bad considering how many bolts there are and you don't appear to be able to do it yourself
bugn8r
$120 to take out 56 bolts (i've got 8 out already). I'd say it would only take ten minutes with the right tool, I just don't have it haha
Unclejake
Then buy the right fucking tool and stop being surprised that a business needs to pay their own rent, ACC, tax, power, wages and above that they would like to make a profit. What help did you expect here?
bugn8r
That's my main problem. I don't know what you would use. I had hoped someone would know a workshop that could do it cheaper I guess, I just wasn't sure if workshops would have a tool that would work. Maybe chill out because I was just asking, no harm in trying to save some money.
Unclejake
Then your question is not valid, so ask it again (with a photo). Someone is more than likely to lend you the tool if you contribute to the forum
bugn8r
Thanks, will do.
Unclejake
LOL, I think I like you (perhaps. We will see). Post a "Wanted to Borrow" here: viewforum.php?f=
Truenotch
You need a hex bit socket of the right size. They work best when accompanied by a rattle gun/impact driver to shock the nut off. If you can, use a small power bar place the hex bit into the hole then get a socket or spanner onto the nut that lives on the inside of the wheel. Undoing the nut is easier than cranking on the allen head and you are less likely to round it off. If you can use a small rattle gun on the nut it makes life a lot easier (cordless impact drivers or small impact wrenches work). Give it a go with a hex bit and a socket on the back and if that doesn't work, take it to elite/an engineer.

bugn8r
Elite is starting to sound to be the best way as the nuts on the inside are round. I will drop in to my local mechanic on the way home tomorrow. If he can't, Elite it is. Cheers
