Snoozin
Wheel stud's are 7/16 UNF. Also, mean tyres! Those old FM901's are ultra choice.
KKtrips
OK - they look better than I thought they would.. Bring em down to pinkys tomorrow night and use impact gun to take all the nuts and bolts out - will be a million times faster.. Also chuck discussion thread link into your first post ya doofus.. Beaver
Im glad you approve KK. if we split them into 3 tyres will come off yeh? edit: dave, will have a play and see what fits
KKtrips
Yeah I approve Can't promise the tyres will come off but we can undo the bolts and nuts to see what happens - depends if the centres bolt between the rim halves or on top of them. KKtrips
The 2 halves of the shell may be welded together then - or at least will be sealed with some silicone style sealant so may be a cunt to pry apart without the tyres being removed first.. I suppose if we leave 30 psi in each tyre then they'll come apart if they are not welded together..
Beaver
ah yes good point. centres out will be a good start any way so I can clean them up. Im assuming itl be all good leaving the tyres on just bands? deflated off course
KKtrips
Nah leave the air in them - maybe even take them up to 60psi to make them lighter to carry..

mikuni
When I split my BBS wheels I used a jack to break the seal and I had to load it up quite a bit to get them to crack. I wouldn't be surprised if they stayed together even with air pressure in there.
Beaver
right cheers. will a tyre place be able to strip the tyres off with no centres? or would be it be worth leaving them in until the tyres are off?
KKtrips
Yeah they will be able to fine - they just won't be able to balance them till the centres go back in.. But is there any point in actually splitting them? Just polish the outer shell, paint the centre.. BAM - A-La-Carte sweet riyums..
Beaver
yeh nah not really tbh.also saves the hassle of sealing them again etc. still keen to whip centres out tomorow though, and if they fall apart then they fall apart

mikuni
Just remove air and chuck 4 or so bolts back in to hold them together once the centres are removed. It would be a million times better if you don't crack the seal because they can be a cunt to seal up again.
Beaver
sweet cheers. will do that and get the tyres whipped of this weekend. will be easier to polish im guessing
