E Class A (ATV Reg) FAIL SAGA : why not to try etc.

sooo bet a dollar this has been covered I DID not search

the avenger I class as a ATV (checks all the boxes)

is there a proper reason WHY I justy cant ring up and apply for an ATV rego, my work IS less than 3 km and I can walk in under 10 mins... 1.1km on google maps

will there be a draw back when I try and enter rallies? etc?

or am I being dumb < Monique now thinks I am indeed dumb! (edited)

Last time I rang NZTA lady wanted me to take car to get re-classed as atv not a passenge vehicle (ie which its not)

edit AND original rego IS still on hold.. I would be slightly complicating things by havin 2 rego's same vehicle I understand this...

Pretty much if you have an accident with it on A class no insurance companys are going to touch anything. And you will probably get in more trouble.

And I mean if you write off a jag / power pole (they are expensive) especially if their insurance won't pay cos your car is not legal.

step 1 :I need to re-visit my local, MTA member of Post shop

Have ID collect a MR2B form fill out VIN exempt, fee may range from $90-$100 for Petrol ATV if it passes all criteria

Nice lady did ask if my atv already had a plate - for all purposed it does not currently

step 2 : follow up with INSURANCE

trying to be as legit as possible here, fill all the gaps

atv requires sub 500kg,
They have three or more wheels, an engine capacity exceeding 50 ml and a gross weight of less than 1,000 kilograms*. They're also known as farm bikes, three-wheelers or four-wheelers.

1,000kg is fucking heavy for an ATV, but that's what the website says

tis a fair bit more running gear/steel in that quad than avenger :Þ

Avenger OEM 900kg

random STI : new ones are 1500KG older 1200KG, body/shell might have mass of 500 kg alone?
