rebel county
I want to paint my dashboard to dark grey, currently it's shitty plastic brown. What products should I use to paint it? What prep work should I do? Cheers David
KKtrips
Vinyl die - a good rub down with a cleaning spirit should be enough..
rebel county
Vinyl die - a good rub down with a cleaning spirit should be enough.. Thanks, I should be able to get that from Repco or Supercheap Auto? Is it in a spray can or does it have to be brushed on?

xsspeed
Suggest getting a spare bit of dash or something and doing a test - IMO that brown is sweet

JasonK
Vinyl die - a good rub down with a cleaning spirit should be enough.. looks like a hard (non porous) plastic to me, if so vinyl die won't soak in, however I may be wrong.

kicker
I used the spray on the dash of an old holden I used to have, worked good, the fumes are pretty strong though so make sure you have good ventilation

Mike-e
you will miss shitty plastic brown. tbh I would buy shitty plastic brown if they made it in cans
Threeonthetree
you will miss shitty plastic brown. tbh I would buy shitty plastic brown if they made it in cans QFT Also, Supercheap's 3M Vinyl paint (not dye) is ideal for painting plastic trim and dashboards. A workmate of mine used plenty of it when restoring the interior of His Porsche. Came up mint. As suggested earlier, vinyl dye may not in my opinion penetrate far enough into the plastic to produce a consistent result. Having used the paint and seen the final result, I'd recommend it for this job.
