shizzl
anyone on here keen to make me up a carby adaptor? got me a 3.8 v6 thats going carby.. ive got a 350cfm holley for it.. the manifold has been cut n shut allready. so all i need now is an adaptor to go from the barral down to a single centered 42mm hole.. and the plate to be no thicker than 35mm....so 35mm would be ideal... the flow would need to be funneled from a 2 barrel to the 42mm.. will need 8 holes drilled in it, 4 holes for the holley to bolt onto, and the other 4 will need to be countersunk to mount the adaptor onto the manifold... i can take some pics if you like... it can be made from either alloy or nylon....but not wood anyone keen??? give me a price... shizzl
shown with a basic adaptor, not to a 42mm restrictor... but this is how it needs to sit...kind of.. i suppose i could make one out of wood as a template if needed
KKtrips
Why not wood? Its a great heat insulator and is easy to work with.. Lots of spacers are made from a hardwood type material - phenolic is expensive but would work as well.
shizzl
has to be non porous
KKtrips
Hardwood is non porous enough to not be an issue with air leaks. Or are you talking some speedway rule?
shizzl
yea its a speedway rule...that and the fact that wood burns quite well lol
KKtrips
so do tyres - but yeah I get your point - find a lump of 35mm thick phenolic and then go to town with drills and files..
KKtrips
Buy one of these http://www.xrpm.co.nz/phenolic-carb-spacer-p-1672.html then using a setting putty you could fill in the centre and sculpt the funnel you need.. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Home-living/Ki ... 111057.htm You can tap new threads into the manifold plate and save have to make some counter sunk holes in the spacer.. shizzl
this is basically what i need, but with the 4 inner bolt holes slightly closer together if possible...only so the fuel bowl is at the back rather than at the side, unless itll make no different with fuel movement inside the bowl
keltik
Fuel movement inside the bowl is something to consider. I foolishly ignored it with my carb and get surge on tight right handers.
shizzl
we only turn left..hard left and lots of g forces... im not sure what position would be best for it, but most have the bowl at the back..
BlownCorona
10mm alloy plate, hole saws and 'half moon' files work wonders for me.
shizzl
it needs to be atleats 30mm or the flow will be totalled.. max of 35mm thick
BlownCorona
no problem, just use 30mm alloy, or any material really, but holesaws and files do a good job, i think i also used a sander bit on a dremel to make it really smooth
shizzl
i was just putting it out incase someone was keen on a cashy on the side.. i dont have any good holesaws that drill a decent hole..or half round files

nvmyvl
I can supply the phenolic plastic if you find somebody to make it. How soon do you need it? i have a big job on here at work at the mo, but may be able to chuck it onto the cnc when its finished.
