Ok, Jus need quick info for guy at work then thread can get deleted.

Guy is looking at buying this cheap 86-87 ish era skyline.

Im assuming it is r31?

Thing is it has what im guessing is an rb30 as he says the rocker is grey and has the red holden badge on it. From ones ive seen this makes me think its the vl commy rb30 thats in it.

Now did these skylines ever come with a 6cyl/rb30? and if they did they wouldnt have a holden rocker right?

If not is the motor a bolt in swap?

Just wanna pass this info and any i can on to him monday.

Hes looking at it cause its cheap and to flick on again.

Holdens also came out with sohc rb20s so be careful you don't get a gutless wonder. I have been told that the only diffance between the holden rbs and he nissan rb is the badge but that could be wrong.

It's not the same model, that's why. The only reason it might appear to be the same model is that someone at some point in time has changed them over. The 4cylinders and some of the Aussie crap has the "Ti" square lamps. They are gay. End of.

There are differences between the Holden and the Nissan RB30 but mostly in the manner it's controlled, eg. ECU. The Holden ones and associated other gubbins are known to be of lesser goodness than the Nissan variant.

It's quite likely someone has just put a "Holden" motor in, alternatively, they've just changed the cam cover.

Either way, it's only potentially average a situation if the Skyline is from Japan and not Australia. If it's a Solid rear 31 from Australia then it might as well be a Holden so, who cares?
