efp0wa
Went to start engine...had to fuck around with getting spark again (like i've had dramas with in the past). It won't fucking start!!! Carby is getting fuel. But once I remove a couple of spark plugs they are dry. Like there is no fuel getting into the engine itself...FML. I thought maybe dizzy way 180 out so I turned it around. Still not go. Not that that would matter seeing as I'm getting spark. I'm feeling pretty bummed. Why would fuel not be getting to the motor...? PLEASEESE help
tortron
shit in the carb and after you have done that, clean the dirt out of the jets
efp0wa
SO where do I start?
d.p.n.s
what sort of carb mate or what sort of motor if that helps.
efp0wa
4g63 sohc. carb that is generally on the 2 litre models
mjrstar
Fuel Float stuck closed? How about you get adventurous with some engine start/crc/petrol/dynamite down the carb and see if it fires? I also remember every one of those old 4g63 carbies i have dealt with has a coozed auto-choke on it
efp0wa
I may as well pull the carb off and give it bit of a clean i suppose. Yeh the autochoke was disabled as it was coozed and wouldnt work.
cubastreet
yeah engine starts def worth a try
Simon
Probably is a blocked throttle pump and (like you said) no choke. My 4g54 blocked the throttle pump with a tiny piece of something small and combined with no choke there was no way to get fuel into the motor on start up. I just cleaned it out and have to pump it on start up.
efp0wa
Ok guys, Tried the engine start spray, still no good. So I removed the carb to give it a clean up. There IS fuel sitting in the inlet manifold under where the carb mounts onto the manifold; seems its not getting drawn into the motor... Now...Is it possible I could have the cam timing out by like 180degree? Or something along those lines. All the markings lined up when the cam belt was installed. I'm feeling stumped
efp0wa
Just blew out the carb with air. Going to go bolt her back up. At first I thought the dizzy may be 180 out so I tired it the other way. But it was all good to begin with. Need this thing to start...feeling fucking stupid. efp0wa
ALRIGHT. Gotten a bit further! Put carb back on inlet with all hoses required etc. Also changed to a different distributor & coil. Went to fire her up and BANG. Like a shotgun was so loud I almost shat myself as I wasn't expecting it!! Obviously all that unburnt fuel/engine start sitting in the manifold finally ignitied. Turned her over a bit more but was popping away like the ignition timing was wrong. Pulled dizzy out and turned it to next setting, but that wasn't right (wanted to start but seemed like it was firing at the wrong time). So going to try the other 2. Can't find my timing light which is a bitch! Anyway jsut went a got some woodys and now I'll try again Wish me luck.
Unclejake
You have the firing order wrong
efp0wa
I've got it on 1-3-4-2. Thought that was right? I'm more so suspecting that dizzy isn't at correct position since I put the replcaement one in. Battery is on charge again at work anyway, will take it back to workshop this arvo and give her a shot. Unclejake
A wildly out of alignment dizzy will have the same symptoms - so you could be right

Simon
What was it?
efp0wa
The carb must have been blocked and the spark was too weak therefore I changed to the other dizzy and coil. Smoked like a train for about 10 minutes but it cleared up.
