Scrubb
Hey guys I have a Lancer EX with 1600cc 4G32 engine with stock steel wheels. I just got some new tyres put on the front and they're skinnier than the old ones and also I'm sure the sidewall is bigger. The new tyres are 165/80/SR13. I thought from memory the old ones were 165/75/sr13 or something? But I'm not sure.. Does anyone know the standard tyre size for my car? OSM Garage
My 1200 had 155/R13. Pretty dicey at high speeds!
lowlancer
Sounds about right. Doubt it would have 175 stock, but if you can fit em, put them on
Scrubb
I know the 165 bit is right because they're the same as the back which are still the old ones but that 80, is that the sidewall size? I'd like to know that if possible.. The book I have is just the book you get with the car and it only says "165SR13" They new ones on the front and the old ones on the back are both 165's but the back ones are quite a bit wider than the front. This just because different brand of tyre? I dont know anything about tyres..
MACKAZ
my EX has the ORIGINAL tyre size sticker on inside of door specifying a 155/70/13 for a 1200
Ke36
165 is the width in mm 80 is the profile which is how big the sidewall is as a percentage of the width, in this case a 165/80 rim will have a profile which is 80% of 165mm or 148mm and the 13 is the rim size and yea 155s wud be about right for stock
Scrubb
Thats really good info Ke36, I understand now.. Fthe 1600's I'm sure its 165 as thats what I had on before I got new ones and in my book it also says: 1200EX - 155SR13 1600EX - 165SR13 So now I just need to find out the proper sidewall size.. fuel
82. Usually they should have 155 R13 (or 155/80 R13, near enough the same), or 175/70 R13. 165R13 is slightly taller in diameter but should be fine.
Scrubb
Awesome really REALLY good info! Thanks alot! So the tyres I got are Hankook Centum K702 164/80/R13. Is there any reason why they're slightly bigger diameter to the old ones but they're the same size? (so the tyre shop reckons..)
