eskynut
Has anyone fitted 4 pot Princess brakes to mk2 Esky? Do they bolt straight on (if I use Capri 2.8i rotors)? Or do I need to use a spacer kit?
Raizer
They will bolt straight on with stock disks, will need to be spaced for vented capri discs
QCADTA
Palmside has spacer kits for them if you cant make your own. Also they have dual feeds to each caliper so you have to turn them into one.
Gaz
Also you need to make new or buy longer retaining pins.
CaMpylobacter
and split the brake line into two for each caliper as they run two flexi lines (one for each side of the caliper)
sholdowa
They are rather heavy... all that extra unsprung weight for very little gain imo.
RT
I noticed a pretty decent change when I put them on my capri. imo, get the spacer kit if you're using vented discs, comes with everything you need and is well worth the price. Gaz
^^ Yeah worth it hard performance wise. Used to be worth it hard price wise also.. They are not cheap nowdays tho. If your semi handy you could go the Volvo option. They are cheap as chips and pretty easy to make work. Think one hole needs slight slotting. The only part that really makes it harder is that you'll need to make your own spacer kit up rather than buy one. Spacer kit can be brought from http://www.palmside.co.nz for the AP calipers. Both holes need slotting, and if you get calipers off a Volvo 200 series (the common ones) you don't need spacers//oldschool.co.nz/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=9053
eskynut
Cheers guys. I managed to pick up a pair of mint Princess calipers CHEAP! Otherwise I was thinking about going the Volvo way. Watch this space!

Raizer
Look at the Volvos, my fuzzy memory is telling me there lighter than the old AP calipers.
QCADTA
look at the link below. full of heaps of good info on escort related mods classicford
treggo
Yo currently doing brake conversion. Pretty easy if you have patience and a small round file. I think the ideal volvo callipers to go for are the girling ones used with vented discs. If I remember right you don't need spacers for em if you get the vented ones. I'm using the vented ATE ones but am having a hard time finding seal kits etc for them.
CUL8R
Excuse my ignorance/slightly ot but regarding the twin>single feed, why cant you just plumb a "T" section in - the same way rear brake lines are often done, but to each caliper rather than each wheel (ie so two "T" sections - one for the right caliper, one for the left) ?? treggo
Thats what I'm doing to feed the volvo's. Maybe a different case with the austin ones?
Steelies
i've got twin line 4 pots that have been drilled through (spacer too) to run single line, is this an option
