QCADTA
You can either make a whole new tunnel or what i did was take out the original box mounts which are just spot welded, cut round the top of ya gearbox tunnel and fill in the gaps. I also welded box section from the chasis to the floor tomake new mounts for the new g/box. Check my project for some pics. As for the clutch just make one like palmside sell, in the process of doing it myself. What are your plans for it?
shizzl
well,im always in multiple minds when planning stuff ae... looking at getting a 10a rotor for it,bridgeported..just cos no-one ever does 10a's.. ill definately wait to see the box i get for it though, cos being an early 4spd rx box it maybe smaller than a s1 5speed.which will be good.. its the hydraulic set up thatl get me,thats why i went with a k50 cable box when i did the 4age conversion in my last escort... shizzl
that palmside pedalbox is f**n exspensive.... do they not do just a hydraulic clutch kit??
crazy_rich
I bolted a hiace van master cylinder under the dash in my capri, just had to weld a clevis to the top of the clutch pedal, and im yet to remote mount a reservoir in the engine bay. alternately you could maybe mount a standard rx master cylinder on your firewall, just copying the rx setup. because id say you'll have more spare room in the bay than i do. sholdowa
I take it you're trying to get a type 9 gearbox into an escort. The standard method is to use a fbh* I've gone a bit overboard on the clutch bit, and now have an adjustable pedal box and a hydraulic release that fits over the primary shaft of the gearbox... *fucking big hammer. WARTYM
what i did was got the hydraulic master cyl and pedal from a hilux and modified it to fit my mahindra did it all ourselves and at home we are no mechanic or fabricator although my dad has alot of ideas and often... mikuni
I'm not experience with this either because my getrag box was cable and my chevette one went straight on. You can get small clutch master cyl kits though that almost bolt straight up. You just need to fix it to the firewall and attach the actuator or whatever its called to the pedal at the appropriate point so it is depressed fully when the pedals down. I think most ke conversions would have used this sort of thing so have a look in that direction. Just as a side note, I hope you've looked into the engine well because I have heard that there is a very good reason as to why; looking at getting a 10a rotor for it,bridgeported..just cos no-one ever does 10a's.. shizzl
im not worried why people dont do 10as,they werent a very highly produced engine..makes it rare....or unique.. well the plan is to wait till the engine and box is here, ill throw it in the hole to see if itll fit without having to cut anything.. the box does look a little smaller than a s1 box,so im hoping itll fit ok.. Guest rxsmiddy
putting in a hydraulic clutch is pritty simple, just put a push rod on your clutch pedal, i used b1600 parts for my cable to hydraulic conversion, and also, 10a bridgeport? extremly hard to find a 10a then you need parts, etc labour to build it, your talking big $$$$ here - not saying it wouldnt be cool or anything but in reality 12a bridge is easier, more parts, heaps of them around etc, you could pick up a second hand 12a for a good price, just do your homework before buying it get it compression tested etc , but hey if your going rotary just go all out and go 13bt thats what im in the process of doing
Gaz
RXSUMO could prob point ya in the right direction to find a 10a if your still looking. Under dash resivoir Pedal box for escort.. look into Rally prep manual for escorts.. has a very detailed artical on how to make it yourself with dimensions and all. The PDF is floating round somewhere. Also RXsmidy... you not one of the Smiths from Rotorua by chance? Gaz edit.. and.. I converted my Sierra type9 5 speed to hydraulic in the cortina. Can take pics of setup I did on gbox side of things.

WARTYM
id just go straight to hydraulic instead of wasting your time trying to get the cable to work
