dylan
what are the laws about seat brackets can you bolt straight to the floor? do you have to use original mounts/holes? can you make brackets which bolt to the floor and the seats? Gaz
Have a search as im sure its been mentioned before and someone went on LTSA and copy/pasted the facts over.. Anyway, from memory, If you use original mounts you are fine.. this is the easiest way.. BUT with the cortina if it had benchies standard this is near on imposiable as they didnt have four holes on each side. If you do need to make new holes in the floor to bolt throught then you must... Use 50x50mm plate with edges rounded off and it bashed to curve with underbody. They need to have the nut or bolt fixed to the plate so it cant fall out. (I just weld a nut on). They also have to be fixed through the floor so the plate cant fall off if the nut comes undone (I use rivets) Umm, also need a plate on the top side in cabin I think, (need to check that one). Either way its pretty easy in most cases. The cortina is a bit differant if it is the same as mine as the rear mounts will most likely fall in the place that is dobule skinned with box section.. If it does hit me up and ill show what ive dont. Gaz
filthy one
you cant'bolt through the floor dude unless your using the factory bolts holes but i would say not huh!! I welded c section steel to a peice of 6mm flat & welded that across the floor then bolted the seats to it cert no issues
dylan
oh ok im asking as i need to get the mk2 escort warrented and the last thing that needs to be done is for the seats to be bolted in so im lookin for the quickest way to do it i may have to have a chat to the guy at the wof shop here see what he recommends
eke_zetec_RWD
id try factory holes, cert manual says blah blah blah times 6 pages or factory mounts. but if you want a wof put standy seats bak in, retro fitted seats must be certified. Josh
Heres a crude drawing. The black slabs are the orig seal rails and the red outline is the aftermarket seat. The blue/cyan whatever is the bits of steel that go under the aftermarket seat and bolt to the a/m seat and to the orig rails. Easiest way I could think of, and didnt require a cert or anything. Btw your sig is fucking awesome!
dylan
thats a dam good idea are the steel(blue) bits just bolted to the aftermarket seats?

Gaz
^^ needs a cert for that.. He has done them to cert standard as I wrote in the 2nd post of this thread. Any new holes drilled in floor will need a cert. Do what Josh said and then you dont need a cert..
mikuni
thats a dam good idea are the steel(blue) bits just bolted to the aftermarket seats? Thats what I've done with mine also. As far as I can tell the red vertical lines are the A/M alloy seat brackets, a la; Haven't had any trouble for wofs (lols at where I get wofs though) but more importantly have been pulled over by cops with it and 2 have checked the seats out. They checked the mounting points and that the seat can move forwards and backwards and were happy with what they found. Would be gay to get stickered for something silly like seat mounts. dylan
after pulling the carpet up and having a look it appears that someone has got in there with a grinder.......i can find the two back original threaded holes but no fronts so if anyone happens to have a pic of what it should look like under there could you please post it up....i hope i dont have to go down the cert track after all
Josh
thats a dam good idea are the steel(blue) bits just bolted to the aftermarket seats? yea just bolted up to the aftermarket seat, simple. And mikuni, the red vertical lines are the a/m seat outline, not a/m brackets
dylan
well it appears that some complete dickfuck has cut these crossmembery things out other than being pissed that the original seat mounting holes arnt there...surely that must be bad for the structural integrity of the car? im pretty much stumped as to where to go from here.I really dont want to go down the certification path as that=money and money is something i do not have
