BUT then it seems to go okay unless you boot it under high boost it cuts out {not completely} just misses, backfires pokes black out the back. I'm at my wits fucken end with it & need a bit of advice below is what ive replaced as you'll see its getting expensive!!! Its been into the subaru agents but they spent 3 days with no result & i was'nt paying them anymore.. SOmeone suggested a coil breaking down underload but that wouldnt explain the fuckin round when it cold..would it???? airflow meter $400 cam, crank, water.temp sensors $450 s/h ecu $450{because of another issue} boost controller $250 fuel pump $350 AARRRRGH HELP!!!!!!!!!!!! thminiman
my only geuss would be that second hand ecu if you got it from a wreacker, could have got wet or some shit before being taken out of car other geuss would be a faulty exhaust oxygen sensor
mikuni
I assume you've done the fuel filter aswell? I can't really help because I know fuck all about this sort of shit but it does kind of sound like fuelling aye. Theres also the chance that both problems aren't related which could be throwing you off tracking it down. Best bet is probably posting all over the subaru forums. No doubt they have come across this elsewhere. Just be carefull with it though because internet cunts like me often just write whatever we feel like and it could send you on a wild goose chase if their information is unfounded or incorrect. Guest sexychevette
The cutting out under boost sounds like a coil problem. My gts-t does it, coil packs fo lyfe yo!
Burntrubber
How about the plugs shit running when cold and cutting under boost are symptoms of faulty plugs especially the cutting under boost.
Raizer
Yeah it does sound like a coil pack issue, also is your ICV clean/good condition? Is the ECU throwing out any codes? My Legacy did something very similar which turned out to be cam and crank sensor's, but as you said you've already replaced them. http://www.clubsub.org.nz/forums/index.php

crazy_rich
yeh, my old man bought a brand new legacy from the showroom floor back in 96 that did the exact same thing from new, he rung subaru and they told him to tap the airflow meter as he was starting it to get it out of limp mode, they couldnt fix it so they took it back, gave him another car and scrapped the piece. L0WMK2
my guess would be coils sounds like prob my mate had with his evo4 if you want someone in chch to check it out take it to spec in town on st asaph st he knows a bit about subbies
Stacov
i would say either spark plugs or coil packs. I would get the coil packs testd and change the spark plugs if it doesnt fix it then u can start looking at the other things its not cheap to fix
Mike-e
first thoughts would be plug gap/fuel filter/fuel pump but if its been at a specialist then id say those have been checked so.. knock sensor? do these have a knock sensor
