Mk1Mad
Cheers guys. Yeah, the original thing wasnt originally what I was intending but to keep a decent value it made sence. Just want to get it on the bloody road... Also, the new parts and nice but $$$ are getting depleated. On a good note. I sold my Subbie so am on the lookout for a new daily driver for Wellington. Not in a rush tho so think ill wait for the right car to come along at the right price.

Mk1Mad
Yep, $20 to blast and prime per wheel so $100 all up. He can paint as well but I already had the top coat so didnt need it done. Came up really good.
mjrstar
wow old post.. Where did the exhaust manifold studs studs etc come from? I'm thinking i should chuck a few new ones in too since mine are looking a bit sad/stuffed...
Mk1Mad
Yeah, never really have any comments. Um, studs etc all came from Minispares. Good exchange rate right now makes their stuff pretty cheap. Also currently eyeing up some 'S' steels without hubcaps to go for a bit of the weekend racer look. Mk1Mad
Bolt in rear cage would be cool. Cant have a rear seat tho for WOF and need authority card I believe. Anyway, rollcages where for loses back in the 60's..

tortron
you can replace the choke cable and keep the original knob I used a butane pen torch/gas soldering iron to melt out the original solder, then used a new bicycle brake cable. Then you just solder the new one in Magic
Mk1Mad
Yup, see attached. I am hoping it is just crimped and I can cut it here and crimp a new cable in. Was only frayed at the carb end, frays in the pic are just from it lying around.
tortron
The metal part is hollow, and will be cross drilled about half an inch up the stem (you will probably be able to see a small circle thats a slightly different colour) apply heat to all of that, and give the cable a pull, doesnt take too much to melt the solder. keep it hot and insert your new bicyle cable, the old solder will probably lock this in place well enough
