how to know if a cam if not standerd

Sorry to hijack thread, but lash caps are the little caps that sit on top of the valve, in the middle of the spring ay?, Not exactly sure what they do, can someone explain?

when you re-grind a cam it obviously makes the lobes smaller so lash caps make up for this loss. What they are all depends on the engine.. on my falcon they are just wee washes that go on the roller rocker posts.. on a pinto they are little caps that sit on top of the valves to lift the rocker get it?

Yeap. lash cap sits on end of valve. They allow you to adjust the rocker ball correctly. If you dont have them, to get the cam contact right they need to be wound right up. This will loose lift from the cam. Alot of aftermarket cams will be reduced as people dont use lash caps and adjust the ball way up.

This will be diff for diff engines/heads by the way. not all heads use them.
