Gaz
What do your cars run at temp wise? My 2l standard fresh pinto runs at 210°F which is 98°C. This is read from a new electric trisco guage. Would be nice if someone else with a pinto can tell me as I reakon this is a tad hot.
thminiman
most thermostats open at 84 degrees C, so i imagine the running temp should be not too far from that.
Josh
I would tell you but I have the wrong senders in my gauges so fuck knows, no help here, usless post

v3k
I doubt its any help - but my hiace ran at 210°F I dont think its bad - cooling systems are under pressure so you are a wee way from coolant boiling. I did a few searches as I thought 210 was a bit hot. But it seems to be the norm.

Snoozin
Alfa runs at a constant 85 on the open road, (how do I do a degree symbol ) then the fan turns on at 92 if she gets a bit hot round town.... electric fans ftw.

CaMpylobacter
anywho, an effiecient cooling system should run at the same temp as thermostat opening, thermo opening and closing to keep this consistent temp etc. going much higher, save for sitting in traffic for ages etc without a solid mount engine driven fan, means you've got a blocked/toosmall radiator, or a plethora of other shit wrong. CHUR chuck a new thermostat at it if its runjning hotter $15 = cheap

84_S12
My exhaust mani and turbo are usually about 400 degrees A good thermostat should be FULLY OPEN at it's rated temperature. Also if you think it's running hot, use a lower temp thermostat preferably genuine parts because generic types aren't necessarily failsafe (Stick open) and often a high temperature offset (Range of temp from open to closed)
