  1. Yay. In saying that I'm only familiar with transplanting the units from a car that had them as stock, into an older car. Seemed to work out well for him though.
  2. Looks like the steel to rust ratio is improving mate! I'll come and drink coffee/sharn if you're about over the weekend.
  3. Ahh sweet. They tend to run like a bag of dicks and create weirdness if they don't get adapted again after being pulled apart.
  4. Done a throttle body adaption now it's back together?
  5. Maybe some saddo slotted a rotary into a Vitesse at some point, creating the British equivalent of the Roadpacer in the process. Behold the Roadleisurelystroller!
  6. How are they going to know that it's incorrect? Unless it looks like it's been rolled, bowled and arseholed/been to the moon and back they probably won't know.
  7. I have a boost calculator thing on a hard drive somewhere, drop down boxes for blower choice/pulley size/boost target etc. I'll dig it out and upload it when I remember.
  8. I'll just throw this in here - It was posted on a more modern VW/Audi/Skoda forum I frequent... I gather the chap's name is Dave, but no idea where he's located.
  9. And? Once a year you go out and spunk a wad on RUC and forget about it. Then you just kick back and enjoy the $4-$5/100km.
  10. Shit, if you ever experience a diesel I dare say we'll be scraping the exploded remnants of your head off the walls and ceiling.
  11. Swing them to Archer's in Vegas. Ring them first, ask for Phil and tell him Doug's bro in law sent you.
  12. Just scan it. Coils/plugs, or if it's still smooth but gutless, N75/boost issues.
  13. Open the PDF in the link, print that page and give it to the WoF guy... Job done. Quite what an inked scrawl from someone he's never met, is supposed to prove, I don't know.

@ranton He may have a better idea, but I think you can shave a bit of weight off without making things too lumpy.

The difference is mostly in the higher sulphur content of diesel - A lot of the topdressing outfits with Crescos and turbine-repowered Fletchers were keen on the idea of being able to refuel on farm via a diesel tank. The main issue that springs to mind is the deposits left on the blades in the hot section were sufficient enough to throw it out of balance, this resulted in a catastrophic failure. I'll see what info I can dig up on that, as it's going back a few years now.
  16. Kelly 70s all day. Or if you're feeling adventurous, Dunlop AquaJets.
  17. Yeah, the VR engines. One head covers both banks - There's only a 15 degree angle between them. They also sound fucking glorious!
  18. What time do you mob envisage crawling through the Tirau/Putaruru/Arapuni section? Just so I can shake some hands/lol at the blue haze.
  19. Use it in the bath then, when you've rooted yourself/run out of talent on your bike.
  20. Magnesium Sulphate, garden center or farm supply outfit. 25kg bag should be about $12-$15 at your local Farmsource/CRT/Wrightsons.
  21. Saw a green Marina van in Matamata the other day, pretty tidy condition - Complete with NZ Motor Company sticker on one of the rear windows.
  22. Further to this, if he still draws a blank, tell him Doug's brother in law sent you.
  23. Call Archers or whatever they'e called in Rotorua. Ask for Phil Y and tell him I sent you.
  24. Just remember that an aircraft engine is a million miles away from the conditions an automotive engine is under - nothing Lycoming or Continental make runs faster than 2750rpm and even then only for very short periods. No changes in effective load on the engine, and a minimum of 3 seconds from idle to full throttle. Not particularly hard for them to map their fuelling requirements to a close tolerance compared to the constantly changing conditions you'll use on the road.
