  1. motors starting to look the part, new water pump and timing belt kit, ditched the belt covers. need to finish cleaning and painting the rest of the brackets/pulleys/inlet and alternator ect, also need to work out how to mount the coils on new rocker cover. hopefully pull out the old motor this weekend
  2. this thing is awesome, look forward to seeing efi conversion
  3. be nice at the end knowing its all solid underneath the paint
  4. the sump and pick up fit on nicely, hopefully gives me enough clearance I may have to take a small chunk out of it to clear. also have stripped the engine down and painted the block and given it a good clean. got the rocker cover from the b6t engine dipped and bead blasted and then gave it a lick of paint. plan to pull everything off the intake manifold to clean it up and paint it either silver/Aluminium. next job is to pull out the ma engine and box, then sort out the mx5 bellhousing onto the 626 box to get it ready to drop it in so can make it some mounts
  5. wow this is awesome man, nice work engine bay looks so clean!
  6. rocker cover paint job looks good
  7. haha nah not keen on turbo, just want to use factory ecu ect already blowing the budget and ill need cert at the end of it too, want to drive it everyday so economy is a priority!
  8. so it turns out as Sam the slacker kindly pointed out today, the mx5 sump bulge is at the wrong end for slotting in the ute and would foul the steering/xmember…... luckily i managed to find a bfmr b6t engine that I was going to pinch the rocker cover off but ended up grabbing the whole engine so i can nab the sump and pick up also, i pulled it all off tonight looks as tho it would work. will find out tomorrow
  9. found a sweet pin out diagram for the mx5 ecu so thought it might make life easier if i label all the wires. going to make a mounting bracket to fit the ecu up in the passenger kick panel and maybe put a fuse box and some relays next to it. this is Teddy degreased the motor today, ready to strip it down for cam belt ect
  10. engine turned up today, got it onto a stand ready for a good degrease and some paint ect the fella i got it from was such a good dude and cut all the sections from the loom i needed and given me the front half of the mx5 box to put onto my 626 box. plan is to clean it up and give it a paint, do the water pump and cam belt, then try get it in and make some mounts. while I have been waiting for the motor to turn up have done a few little jobs, have cleaned up the spare wheel and given it a paint ready to put a tyre on and winch it up in place, have also dug out the front discs and worked out they are UN courier vented discs, have moded some top arms to take the newer style top ball joint by moving one hole and slightly elongating two other holes, need to see if i can find the spare lower arms to see what is needed to fit lower balljoint or if the old one is the same taper ect, also about to clean up the tow bar ready to paint up and bolt on
  11. sideys look awesome, rocker cover looks good in that red too!
  12. yeah i was going to stick with the MA/VC/NA but fortunately found one in my price range as I'm on the same shoestring budget especially after acquiring a mortgage, luckily the dude selling the motor is doing the same v6 swap like alexs viva so i could give him a s1 rx7 box to aid his conversion. yeah its handy to have spares, the VC engine is a goody
  13. the fella I am acquiring the mx5 engine from has sent me this photo of the motor pulled from the car just the wiring loom to come out and split the bellhousing from gearbox then its ready to go. got bit excited and brought some goodies to give the b6 a spruce up when it arrives, also thinking of rewiring the non engine side of the loom while I'm sorting out the mx5 loom to suit by putting in a new fuse box ect, give the lighting side of things some relays.
