WTBorrow: Compression Tester - AKL
Llama replied to GuyWithAviators's topic in Upper North Island Region
I have one. Not fancy screw type, but has worked in the past. Presume you've checked all the other usual suspects? I'm way out west though, but could bring it into the city. -
I have a .png of a schematic of something I'm making. There is no scale on the part. I want to be able to give it a reference scale, and then draw lines and have it show the length of the lines in mm. Any easy way to do this?

10dB is half the subjective volume, so I think he did quite well out of that. Measuring actual frequency content of the drone (rather than the engine frequency) would have been more useful I would have though.
-
Have you got just the basic package? Or all the extra modelling stuff? For any serious FEA I would look at ANSYS instead, and just import the model from SW. It does fluid/solid interactions quite well. Although I hope you have a grunty computer to run it on.

I may have speedo cable lying around, although it'll be for a CB175. Interested?

I know they aren't expensive, but I'm only likely to need these once and too cheap to buy them. Cylinder is 55mm. Can pay in beers or rusty motorbike parts.
-
This might be my first one since february? Better get onto finishing the motorbike then.

Holy lol. Computer will have an isolated power supply anyway. Not sure what your light-bulb idea is going to achieve. Like everyone has said, earth the damn chassis before you make a darwin award of yourself.

Nit-picking, but I think you mean surface mount here. Thin-film specifies the internal construction of the resistor and has nothing to do with the packaging type.

Nics Engineering page of 3d Scanning, CNC machining and other junk

Most low end CNC mahcines run completely open loop, no feedback at all. Like Nic said, possible, but wouldn't give great results for the effort involved. Better of getting a 3D scanner. -

Yeah, I've yet to find a place that does aluminium extrusion like that in NZ though. -
$2000 for just the welder alone? Keep in mind gas, a nice helmet, gloves and possible electrical upgrades as it looks like both those will need 20A sockets. IGBTs on the lincoln are in theory less likely to shit themselves than the MOSFETs on the Mitech, but without knowing anything else about the internal construction it's pulling at straws really.

sunbed enthusiast support group - July Auckland CBD meet 3/7/14
Llama replied to xsspeed's topic in Upper North Island Region
Argh. How did I not find out about this until now? Was 300m away too. -
Well, just as I get all my CB350 bits together, the CB200 decided to shit itself. Sounds like I've broken the cam chain or dropped a valve or something. Won't turn over and I won't get the chance to look at it for a week or so. Anyone else got another 200 engine lying around haha?

Coolbeans. I have one too, and some spares if you need anything.

I enjoy this thread. You remind me of my Uncle who did similar in coro. Built (or rather, still building...) house out of timer milled and mudbricks made himself. -
By far the easiest way if you can't be bothered messing around with a PIC or something.

Apparently some stuff is moving into newmarket from July?
