  1. This is cool Andy. Are you going to do the welding/body work your self? I gather you are an engineer of some type? How much rust is there to fix, it looks like alot of repair panels. This will be awesome when its done. There was a roof chopped twin spinner getting around West Auckland years ago it was sweet.
  2. Engine Reconditioners will do it for you. Caraid and MPL are usually good to deal with.
  3. I wouldn't worry to much about a bit of smoke at idle, they're still making oil. Judgeing by what turned up in the front of the motor I would say it has had a hard life. Drive it and see how it goes. Or are the local hood rats upset by the smoke as well as the noise/look?
  4. You're going to have to bite the bullet and send them to HBI etc. They dismantle them make new parts and then re assemble them, they come back as good or better than new. Don't get them injected with plastic etc its shit and illegal.
  5. Oh lolz I saw those, they were out of a Rover, I left them behind too. Yeah there was some of those there, only low spec ones. I wanted GT or GTE ones.
  6. Cool. I have a few things to get hold of yet then. Thanks.
  7. Have you done anything to your engine other than add the turbo? What sort of fuel system are you using? It looks like it has come together well.
  8. Yeah I went today, Wasn't me with the scooter though. There is a lot of old bike and scooter stuff there for those that are interested. There seem to be a lot of people there trying to sell their rubbish rather than take it to the tip though
  9. Yeah oven cleaner and scotch brite gets it off. I have also heard of people using drain cleaner. Watch out it's nasty stuff if you get a lung full of the fumes.
  10. Not bad, few new people different cars, nice day for it.

    Z18ET Help

Looking at your build photos, Check your sparkplugs to make sure none are fouled, oiled up, have a huge gap or a very tight gap. Check the plug leads are not tracking down the plugs or to ground somewhere else. Check the HT leads it looks like some have been replaced already. The red Repco ones are crap. Check for air leaks between the air flow sensor and the throttle plate. Check for vacuum leaks around the intake manifold. What is your fuel filter like? Try and get hold of a fuel pressure gauge and check the fuel pressure when it is playing up. See what you find? Also loving the white paint sillhouette on the grass around the car.
  12. Have you talked to CUL8R? He's the man for tyre hook ups. Sand it off? or reverse the tyre on the rim?
  13. Saw you today on the motorway. Good it's got a wof now. Get rid of those nasty rear tyres or at least clean the overspray off, Please. Your car looked good though.
  14. The contacts on the points art dirty. Clean them with some sand paper and check the gap.
  15. Most techs have a hobby body work courses, they cover welding, rust repairs and dents etc.
  16. I thought about turning the motor in a GTX around 90 deg with an mx5 box for a while. GTXs with blown up gearboxes were just about giveaway cheap for a while. Sorry off topic though.
  17. There were 4WD GV Capellas with FE motors. Also I saw a GE Cronos with 4WD badges today, I have seen a GW V6 4WD too. Probably auto though. Call Maz Line in ChCh and talk to Mark he knows import Mazdas pretty well.
  18. Thanks Uterus Not what I was thinking of though. This is what I had in mind.
  19. Hi Clint. Whats the rules with steering quickeners? Cheers.
  20. PM me the details of the water pump Andy. I will see what I can get through work for cheap. Cool that it goes, see it next Sunday?
  21. Doesn't look to bad. You should able to lift that door up by hand or gently with a jack and a piece of wood. May be buy a lower door hinge and tap the pillar back into shape if need be.
  22. Set your idle speed when the engine is hot/at opperatig temperature
