Yeah it's a MX5 motor and gearbox, I'm not sure why more people don't use them too.
They have a cam shaft position sensor off the back of the head which sticks out quite far and gets in the way of the firewall. Might be something to do with it?

Add a relay to your headlights to give your new switch a rest, I did on mine it stopped the switch getting hot after a while with the lights on
You can get gas injection kits now so it will work with your turbo.
LPG conversions need an instlation cert and a yearly gas WOF. Neither cost much.
You can buy LPG for about $1.12 per L, with a good system it gives great miles per litre too.
