  1. Lets put it in the 86 just to mess with people
  2. I've got all the bits sitting there l, just haven't had time. Too many other projects haha
  3. My dream build is a 1e based bottom end with a 4e head. All the rpm.
  4. New parts = rad! Will be fitting these at the first chance I get and then its just fiddly tidy ups and clean the wiring up before heading to a wof. Also started a discussion/abuse thread... woops, thought I had at the beginning.
  5. Haha yeah they are pretty cool although I am biased. I'd love to fit a Turbo S bumper on it but finding one is so hard these days.
  6. Same deal as KPR, have done a few using that extrusion and did it at home.
  7. Holy thread dredge batman - where has the time gone? I haven't done anything on the 86 in a very long time - mainly due to getting distracted with the white 4age EP71.. But in life update news we have bought a larger house so I dug the 4agte out of deep storage and now have it at home where I can get back to tinkering on it in any spare time (yeah right). I can confirm it still drives good, scarily good, I had forgotten how angry this car really is, Being in storage hasn't caused any major issues other than the pressure gauge on the fuel pressure regulator leaking and dowsing the engine bay in fuel. I have a new Turbosmart gauge on the way but in the mean time blanked it up with a bung. There are alot of sins to remedy but for now its nice to have it home. First task is to lower it back to street height as its still jacked from racing.
  8. I feel that list is just for people who are well versed at making dodgy shit look legit...
  9. You dice it up and get it ready, I can pulse mig that shit back together.
  10. Yeah I wouldn't bother with a full stand alone setup, was just using it as an example that the Innovate stuff is pretty good in my experience. With everything you will always hear stories to the contrary and often those stories are spoken louder than the guys who have good results. Ive also used LC1's and 2's which have no screen and feed direct to an ecu, but it is nice to be able to visually check every now and then when you are full send. Have been following your build for a while and definitely keen to see some smokey 11's at the drags one day - keep up the good work.
  11. In my experience Innovate stuff works well although I have heard a fair few complaints about them too. I bought a stand alone Innovate LM-1 setup 15-20 years ago and it only started playing up a couple of years ago after a hard life being fitted to dozens and dozens of cars. I replaced it with a stand alone LM2 which has worked perfectly ever since. I have also fitted a fair few MTXL's into customers cars back when it was my day job. Key thing is following the instructions on how to warm them up vs engine start and I think @Roman has mentioned it a fair few times about delaying the sensor heating until after the engine has started so any moisture is blown out of the sensor. I haven't had any experience with Innovates boost control and prefer to control that via the ecu ie Link, but I haven't played with many GM ecu's so not sure if that's possible? Another option worth looking at are the Spartan units - again Roman has used one of these and I have a Spartan3 running an ADV sensor via CAN in my 86.
  12. This is really cool! Can you take some photos or a video of the whole thing?
  13. Another option is the 4 channel J144 Subaru ignitor - just use three channels. I might have one spare floating around you can have if you want. EDIT: Top right in this photo
  14. Totally agree - finding a good balance between doing something to a standard but in a timely manner can be somewhat tricky. Your doing a amazing job - keep it up!
  15. I really have an issue... So somehow this rusty pile of turd ended up in my possession. It doesn't look that great but it does however supply me with all of the small bits and pieces that I've been looking for. The back of it is filled with a myriad of parts so once Ive used all the bits I need I'll aim to move the rest on to get my money back. It actually runs and drives and the rego is on hold, buuuut she's well beyond saving. Being an Si Limited its actually quite rare and I've had a couple of people show interest. First swap over swapping over the front end. The head lights are way better than the original ones... The bumper and grill were also much nicer so got swapped over and lightly cleaned. Also fitted the lower front grill which is super hard to find these days. Indicators are also not too bad once cleaned up. I didn't really give them much effort so will properly polish them at a later date. Also swapped in heaps of small stuff like the boot trims - none of which have been cleaned properly yet but its starting to take shape. Worked on heaps of other small bits and pieces then got a bit bored and swapped the wheels over. Im not convinced I like the look but they are marginally better than the old TSW's although weak width and offset. Also dug my Wedsports out for a trial fit - they are filthy and the tyres are garked but 15x7 so a little wider. White on white Im not sure about. Anyway, this is how it sits at the moment - will keep ticking away as time allows. The new coil overs should be here in a month or so and ideally want to fit them then take it for a WOF so theres a fair bit of small stuff still to go.
  16. Shit yeah! Now the 4age modification rabbit hole can be opened
  17. Siiick! Nice one! Fresh wof's are the best!
  18. Hey dude, Im not sure how well you know the fwd Toyota gearboxes but the C160 are ok but not very strong compared to the C56 5 speed variant. In a nutshell C1** series boxes have lighter internals (gearsets and crown wheels) compared to the C** series boxes. I run a C56 (albeit a mix match of several boxes) behind my 4agte that's somewhere in the 240fwkw range. What sort of power are you expecting to make?
  19. Sheesh, been a while since I've made any post worthy progress on this thing. I've been ticking away slowly as time allows and trying not to let my OCD kick in too much. All the glass is now in but not before spending considerable periods of time removing old tint from the windows that was wrinkled and just generally shit. I'd like to re tint the car at some stage but that can wait until its back on the road. I gave all the rubber seals and slides a good clean and lube up while I was at it. For a while I had miss-placed one of the rear quarter pop out window latches which resulted in many hours of trolling the internet trying to find someone with one spare to no avail. Its surprisingly hard to find spare parts for these cars now which serves me right for throwing out all the spares I had years ago, to be fair I didn't think I would ever have another one. All the doors and guards got temporarily hung so to see how things would line up as they were all from the parts car - I really should have pre-fitted everything before paint in hindsight as there were a few small things to sort out. The lower guard fixing point behind the passenger side wheel was a bit of a dick with the previous owners snapping a bolt off in there so that was carefully drilled and tapped. Also the front left body outer wing that supports the bracket on the front guard where the bumper bracket bolts on was bent back about 8mm from where it needed to be for some reason. Measuring the rest of the front and its straight so I think it might have just been knocked out of alignment a bit somehow - its only light panel steel quite separate from the main body so it was easy enough to bend back. All easy stuff to fix but time consuming. Here's it with a few bits hanging on it. With the return to a standard hood latch and center radiator support the old radiator setup got thrown in the bin. I got given a very used ali Honda radiator fits behind the radiator support with a few mods. I had to relocate the inlet/outlet, move the lower mounting pin, and make up a couple of tabs at the top. Didn't take many photos of this part. Also had to make up a new water neck off the head - same as Ive done on the 4agte EP71. The radiator is now in and I picked up some rubber pipes from Supercheap that fitted with some trimming. I'll probably make up some flat bar straps in front of the radiator that the fan mounts onto next. While it I was at it I wrapped the headers in heat wrap - probably wont help much but at least they don't look quite as shit. The bumpers were looking pretty tired and no amount of cleaning would get them back to a nice black, so the heat gun got brought out for a dust over which actually worked pretty well! With some light tire black treatment they have come up good enough for now. The front lip was in a similar state and after some work and a light coat of satin black it came up really well and got fitted. Last year I managed to pick up some side skirts that were factory white so they got painted at the same time as the shell. I was thinking about changing them to be black but for now they are refitted and I'll re think this once I've got the car back on the road and thought about the wheel situation some more. All the locks were stuffed with only one working and even then only marginally, and with original locks really hard to find second hand with matching keys I took the easy way out and fitted Solexs haha! I bled up the radiator and drove it out of the shed for a quick wash and a couple of photos. Then tucked it back away till next time. The interior is 90% in and partially cleaned. Im missing heaps of fittings so hunting for some of these to get finish off the door cars - if anyone knows of a source please let me know. I mainly need the blue inserts but complete sets would be handy. Until next time...
  20. Damn that looks good - nice work!
  21. This is a really old sign! Clearlite was waaaaaay back in the day before they became Supalite. Throw some edge light LED's around the outside and it should light up mint Hit me up if you need anything as my business wholesale manufactures signs.
  22. Yeah mine has durotorques too which are luckily in pretty good condition so I haven't had to do much to them. I haven't looked under mine for a while but from memory the durotorques are welded to a beam axle that then bolts up to the chassis so you may need to replace the lot. I'm due to do some work on the caravan later this week (all going well) so I'll take another look when the wheel is off.
