Sanded and repeated. Halfway through the gun decided it didnt want to fan so swapped to my el cheapo and got it finished. Quite a mission.

Rented a compressor. It packed up halfway thru my first side. Supercheap backup to the rescue. Then the gun clogged up. But, got a coat of primer on. Tomorrow i unfuck all the fuck ups a bit and hopefully get it almost primed. I know tigerstripes e'rywhere, and the tailgate is as warped as a warped thing. Thanks.

Found some I replaced. Head is 25mm across. Square bit is 11.8mm have a few, most in pretty good condition. Might find the spare new ones. If you're in a bind come grab them. Txt 0274725454 Mike

I bought a few hundred dollars worth of paint and thinners and shit. I always wanted the bumpers to match the body. So I'm painting it all.

i have a few, more than four, the heads look larger though, just tracking down a ruler to confirm how much larger. Also no nuts..

Return from carb? Or from pump to tank? Is it just part of the emissions bullshit? I know I have breathers and a filter tank I disconnected with no ill effects in the XE.

So, can't decide what to do with the tray. When it's back together the floor is covered with ply, but should i sand the thing down and repaint too, or leave as is. Can I just blow some sprayfiller over it and do a hack job. It's a ute ffs, not a show car. My main thing is the sides and super-scrapped wheel arches looking tidy.

Wow, long time since this was updated. Reassembled, running, driving, stopping, steering and for sale. again. $30ish on Colour Coded Steel wheels with flappers. Proper post to come.

Tbh, aside from being a slack cunt, another reason I dont monthly often is because going east is a pain in the area after work. Regionalising might work. That said couldn't commit to showing up even then.. /nohelp

Finally sussed the shit that is tumblr so I can add some visual stimuli. This was my hack job cut and weld, that sanded down smooth enough that I'm not even going to bog it. And it goes under a bit of trim, so it doesn't need it. Quite happy with that. Actually I will, but it was looking pretty close to acceptable. And this is what happens when you start sanding without really thinking about the repercussions. Or even stripping it down. I needed to start fucking it up to get that Event Horizon thing going, where you go past the point of no return, and have to face the inevitability of stripping it right down. This weekend, major disassembly and moving everything around in the shed so this has accessibility for stripping, smoothing and painting. And my panelbeating mate is coming to smooth out the kinks I can't fathom. Ordered up the first round of parts from Basis. Couple of things to get from KingCountry or whatever its called. Accidentally blew the budget already. Fucker.

I spent a good couple of hours today fabbing up some tabs to hold a stereo in the slot that was all mangled from a few installs ago when I got it. I've been rewiring the stereo setup and trying to troubleshoot an amp install that isn't working, but may be the amp itself. I also spent some time making a mount and installing a new centre speaker in the dash. It turns out in my boxes of shite I already have an original dash speaker mount (ie I wasted a day) and replacement speaker cover, which made me happy because the current one is missing some bars. And, a week or so ago I went through my many boxes of spares I've been hoarding and found the OE stereo and plate. It got me thinking. I'm wondering if I go buy a mechless BT unit, cut the front off the OE and use it as a face to hide a new unit behind. Hmmm. I've also started stripping the spare bumper I have to paint to match the ute, as the current one is OE black rubber. I'll keep it OE as a spare and put this one on. This is part of a Fairmont front I have. I'm wondering if I go balls deep and put the whole lot on.I have a pair of headlights and a spare standard XE Falcon bonnet i could cut to suit... I stripped off the door trim to check out replacing the window rubbers and found a final bit of rust, so ended up cutting that out. So I need to order the rubbers and felts now. Oops. I pulled off the drivers door handle which is beginning to shit itself and the striker mechanism. I heard you can build up the striker shaft and it relieves some of the stress that makes these outer handles constantly shit themselves. I've replaced about 3 on this thing when it was on the road. Here's the theory.. So I welded some beads on the shaft, but it didn't make much difference to handle travel, so I got a bit smart and pulled out the door handle and added a bead onto the pad on the lever that the handle pushes down. It worked a treat. So now the handle takes sweet Fuck all to engage and pop open. I took some pics but my image host is shite. If you own one I recommend doing this. Mega stoked with the results. Also peeled off the vinyl pinstripe and began sanding the bitch down. Oh yes, it looks like I'm going to teach myself how to paint next. Stay tuned for much cursing and crackled paint shennanagins..

Through a combination of clever angles and careful lighting, I've made this look reasonable. Still got a bit of tidying up to do. Quite a bit, but passable. Then I need to figure out what to do about this whole paint thing. Bought a sander, and it works so well, and the thing has so many patches I'm tossing up the balls-deep sand it down and complete respray. Because how hard can it be? Farrrrrrrrking idiot. I need lowering blocks and springs. Just keep polishing that turd.

Turns out it was a loose earth. Sorted now.

I spent a disproportionate amount of time tidying up the panel that covers the fuel tank in the floor of the tray. It takes all the bumps and damage when you put shit in the back. It also goes under a big sheet of ply. So in two ways it was a futile thing to do. lol

Got car out of shed. Drove it to work. Looking promising for my second ever attendance at an OS event in nearly 10 years of lurk.
