  1. Very cool. Where did ya buy motor from? Better value than local?
  2. if @Roman and @Ned had a baby I reckon it'd be really really smart.

  4. Ali has Chinese regulator rectifiers which claim to be full wave. They are shit.
  5. From my experience there are three seperate issues that require solving. People everywhere struggle with this and theres a few (for example) on the moped page that keep sharing information thats slightly incorrect for most people. Iv been over this a few times so sorry to bore everyone but im going to start again. If you are going DC then we will assume you are also going 12v 1, you need to rectify your AC signal to DC 2, you need to regulate this to 12v 3, the resulting power supply is 12v dc (as far as we are all concerned) but its TERRIBLE in that it still varies from 0 to 12 (or 14v or whatever) If you dont fix 3, voltage appears to vary as the frequency of the pulses changes, the only way of getting a decent voltage reading is to use a scope. LED lamps will work like shit, incandescent lamps take ages to warm and cool so seem to smooth the voltage out a bit. A stack of capacitors (as you know) makes things tons better. Again, i have said this so many times but people dont get it. The common "trail tech" units do NOT regulate and rectify.. they only perform one function (iv been drinking and cannot remember which one of the two it is). They do have a more expensive model (about $140 delivered) which (with a capacitor) gives absolutely rock solid voltage and DC. Come visit and see my rock solid DC plz.
  6. Why adding another diode to the rectifier?

  8. Damn i love the story so far! Excellent detective work.
  9. very cool! Always wondered what things looked like inside that side cover. squirt some goo into that clamp slot above tube? I have a big carb for my MB too but scared I'll ruin the bike, love that it actually goes when i want it to.
  10. Just paint them black and dirty them up heaps before going in for a wof
  11. It was probably better than the puke swap meet.
  12. This probably make riddick the smartest person here on OS. I would also like videos
  13. This is a good thread actually, many of these bolt places only have very standard sizes. need some for my tractor so will try the above suggestions!
  14. Good writeup mate!! I learned heaps from that. Had a laugh at the moustache bar.
  15. If the earth is flat then how did me and my bike nearly fall off that sand dune.
  16. Dunno, i just know car parts do and its awesome
  17. The shocks are perfect. Might not be 100% but far better than the old ones which used to do funny things on corners. Very happy with them!! Surprised really because it didnt kinda say what they were actually for.
  18. I doubt this gland would be rated for fuel
  19. Yup just screw wheel back on and wiggle it from side to side as he pulls.
  20. Had another good ride on this over the weekend- super fun offroad on steep grassy/dirt tracks etc and approximately 150km covered between hamilton, raglan and kawhia. Only thing that's average is the four speed gearbox during steep climbs (EG, @64valiant driveway), Could probably try harder but it drops too far out of the power band when changing into second so you bog down and have to go back to first.. I hear the 5 and 6 speed boxes (mb50 and cr80) are a great thing and i need to try find one. The best thing about this bike is that its actually usable to cover relatively large distances and 90% of the time you aren't holding up traffic- EG between hamilton and raglan cars were the limiting factor both ways.
  21. Awesome! Since you have a CNC there you could totally put an o-ring groove on one of those mating faces and use rubber cord rather than a regular gasket.. Would be hardly noticeable once assembled and would be an easy foolproof way of ensuring no leaks and easy assembly/disassembly.
  22. Haters gonna hate.. but i LOVE the 80s/90s drag look. Test fit (was hard as suspension arms werent retained by anything) to see if i need a narrowed beam. I do.
  23. @64valiant when is your next open day? Lol
  24. Wow. Had this thing a year and not even used it. Wheels are still off it. So rusty i cant bring myself to bolt them on (although they are perfectly usable) Today i got this message "Len here . George just got a nzta letter in the mail about ownership. Can you ring him when your free xxxxxxxx he also found the Fergie grill" What does this mean?!? Plates are still live? He told me they werent. Dunno how farm stuff works. The bare metal with peneteol looks great. Just a few streaks of rust from where i didn't put on enough peneteol. One year (nearly) outside in the elements so im super impressed!!!!!
