  1. awesome udertaking mate, i was once told if you can still tell what it is its still salvageable. Nice cars the Landau, thers a matt black one 3 houses down from me. If you really get stuck for parts ask Bernie at Preston St Wreckers in Invercargill, hes bound to have it but dunno what hed want for it. Good luck with it anyway.
  2. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/FORD-CORTINA-TC-TD-TE-TF-MK1-MK2-ESCORT-4-DOOR-PINCH-W-RUBBER-/120931480451?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1c2813f383#ht_3849wt_1163 or or just find a stockist and buy as much as ya need off a guide like this and make your own. http://www.amrubber.com/pinchweld.html
  3. just get some rubbers off ebay, or go to rare spares and they should have some. Start ya license again, doesnt sound good? i just went in paid money, sent out, if i wanted my ht transfered it was a few questions on the computer but couldnt be arsed waiting, all done at the midland licence place.
  4. there is also high and low pinion diff heads for these so just make sure you get the right one.
  5. looks good mate. the more level the better, give the box a bit of room to move in the tunnel under torque loading so it doesnt hit, you also want the pinion angle of ya diff to match the angle of ya engine/gbox, this will help eliminate any annoying driveline vibrations, i found this out the hard way and had to lift my gearbox a bit more. Heres a pic straight off google see how the g/box and diff lines are parallel to each other and the angles are equal and opposite, if you get it like this that would be ideal, but close enough good enough.
  6. have a look here mate. http://www.classic-ford.org/cfp/tm.aspx?m=44249. Think theres a thread on here somewhere if ya search that covers re-vin and cert. Escort diff wont hold upto a sr20 very long, so would be looking for something a bit stronga. good luck.
  7. yeah sorry, power substation. hayes is a bit more expensive but at least you know theyll have one in stock. how big was the allen key! from memory theres cheaper ones in the bins under the bench where they are. we used to get a good deal through my old work.
  8. Havent been for a while but rent a space on clyde st south of the monument round about has a few old tanks for sale to look at. E hayes is awesome, go there everytime im back to get something. My local is waikiwi fish supply out north road, not bad at all. havent been to ocd since i built the sub for it, bad time of year to be hangin round down there for a wintry blast.
  9. guess you could call that worn! what happend there! no oil or no movement in the valves?
  10. http://www.classic-ford.org/forum/ have a look here, someone will point you in the right direction
  11. it sounds like youve been busy. If youve got the budget by all means go for a zetec on quad throttle bodies with nos but the only cheap part about putting these engines in an escort is the motor itself, unless your willing to fabricate alot of stuff yourself, but for the price of building an engine like that id stick with the pinto. Good luck with the build either way.
  12. done them on a nissan with head in place, took plugs out, feed nylon rope in cylinder i was doin and spun crank with socket till i felt the piston push rope up against valves to hold them in place. then self expiainatry from there.
  13. well done mate, that be some nice welding and machine work. that brake setup looks the business.
  14. yeah i just got some z-grip, 3ltr tin for $35.50 i like it, so easy to work with, goes on like butter and easy sanding. Got some cheap thinners from supercheap though.
