  1. ok sweet thanks heaps mate, il have a search for those at the wreckers next time im out.
  2. hi peeps im going down the turbo track with my 711m crossflow its bored to .060 thou, the cranks stuffed so i need a new one. im going to get forged pistons is this all i need? or do i need rods aswell? what type of rods and pistons are sufficient and what type of crank? im getting the o-rings in the block aswell. im expecting about 150-200 hp if possible. i need to lower compresssion so i have an old head that has the original combustion chamber in the head, so i can run flat top pistons by matching the combustion chamber and making a spacer plate with the matched combustion chambers cut into it. also im getting the largest valves including port and polishing. many thanks
  3. oh yeah ok then. im not too sure what size valves its got in it so i guess il pull the head off and have a look. im stil definately putting the 1600 in, just thought it would go a little bit harder with that head.
  4. well i thought the 1300 and 1600 heads were the same apart from the valve size? if its a formula ford spec head wouldnt it have the biggest valves in it? so it would be good on both 1600 and 1300 blocks? surely a formula ford spec head for a 1600 wouldnt be far off a 1300 formula ford spec head? what im trying to get through is that i have a worked 1300 and a 1600 that is bored to 40 thou over. now the 1600 went fuckloads harder then the 1300 so i wana put all the goodies in the 1600, i just needa know the compatibility.
  5. hi thanks for the reply mate, essentially i wont be spending any money as i was gonna make one good motor out of the 2. just wondering what sought of performance it would be punching out.
  6. hi guys got a worked 1300- its got a decked block, planed head that is built to formula ford spec, bigger valves-throat cuts been ground into ports, its also ported and polished, bored to 20 thou over, lightened and balanced flywheel. lets just say all this work didnt even get it close to the performance i was gettin outa my 1600 which is bored to 40 thou over with 1300 pistons and a 234 cam. so my question is how well will the 1600 go with the worked head, lightened flywheel, and the 234 cam? an estimate hp figure would be awesome. cheers fullas.
  7. hey mate thanks for the reply, i dont understand what you mean by an allen key? where am i supposed to put it?
  8. oh cool man that looks good. hey thanks for that info aswell. much appreciated.
  9. oh nice good work man. yeah i do all the work myself too. but i was speaking to the guy i bought the motor off and he reckons he piled about $4000 on this motor through hawera engineering. and he got a mate to do half of it. its in real good nick tho. cant wait for its first run, im a bit nervous about this whole running in business, thrs soo many different views on the idea, it kinda scares me.
  10. oh ok thats pretty sweet. how did you only spend $1500, do you have mates in the machining industry? and dont suppose you know how to run one of these motors in? no one seemed to answer my original question lol.
  11. oh ok well thats something i didnt know. nah its just built to that spec, its not a genuine formula ford head.
  12. yeah its got a head built to formula ford spec. woteva that means? but yeah its been ported and shit.
  13. hey guys sorry for the late reply. so i could just use the same head, and 1300 hc pistons, cam and bearings? and the lightened flywheel in the 1600? then id have a worked 1600, im pretty sure the 1600 has been rebuilt at some stage so the block should be good. what do you guys think? i dont have any money to work the 1600 but maybe i could build one outa the two of them?
  14. hi peeps so i have just bought a worked 1300 crossflow for my esky, as seen here: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing ... =507751840 it hasnt even been started yet, so i need help, i dont know how long or how to run this type of engine in, at all, being a lumpy cam, upon first start i am supposed to take it up to 2000rpm for a min of 20 mins. but thats all i know. and what sort of performance would i be looking at, out of this motor? i have a 1600 in my esky at the moment and that hauls ass for a standard, so i sure hope this 1300 will be a screamer. any help is great thanks
  15. Oh thanks mate il have a look
