  1. ended up so far so good to be earth point for battery as its in the boot the earth was corroded both ends may have fixed its starting issue touch wood
  2. ok heres the issue have a mk2 escort with a 2ltr in it it has had one of those magnetic pointless setups put in it . it winds over really slowly in the mornings and usualy needs roll starting where it will then run fine and be able to be turned off and started instantly so question is is the starter not winding it over fast enough or is the fuel pump shot runs nicely and good as gold till its left over night and requires starting in the morning the batterys a rather large new one 530 cold cranking amps have tried cleaning out carb with no fixed result seems to fire up ok with that engine start spray any input would be great cheers
  3. cheers guys will deff try to keep the gearbox up as high as i can then may have to open the tunnel again just to alow an inch of gap above it

Got the engine sitting in there on the round cortina mounts just looking for a bitta feed back and advice on how its sitting its a few mill off the steering rack via the sump and the gearbox is pulled hard upwards against the tunnel just wanting to know if i should lift the gearbox tunnel again to try level out the engine sum more or if its ok for the engine to be tilt backwards slightly did any one else space there gearbox mounts to drop it lower or am i better off having the shaft end up a few mills from the tunnel? few pics to help explain were im at any advice welcome

Thinking about going down the path of replacing the standard mk2 escort suspension with s13 / 14 adjustables and hubs / brakes just looking for input on pros and cons to doing this the steering arms is the first issue as the steering rack on the s13 is rear as opposed to the escort being to the front of the cross-member but swapping around left for right s13 hub should fix this when fitting on the escort any ideas ect would be great
  6. Are both the escort engine mounts to be cut down to the same length ? eg: both the same left and right when mounting using standard ca engine mounts ?
  7. cheers mate you have set me on the right path i take it you never had to mod your sump at all ? did it clear the steering rack fine ?

  9. yeah saw those but wasint after the gearbox . Thinking i might mod the crossmember mounts to take the standard ca engine mounts as opposed to modding the engine mounts to fit the standard crossmember and replace the rubbers with the round escort style numbers

  11. looking for engine mount ideas for mounting a ca18det into a mk2 escort unsure if im going to mount to the rails or cross member any pics would be great would pref not to molester the sump unless i have to have a huge trans tunnel so hight is no issue
  12. ive got 13 inch modgies with 205 on it may just be how they are and theres nothing i can do about it apart from changing to a different box just seems to be not getting the power to the rear end sorta thing will scream and hardly spin the wheels ect
  13. my mk2 escort 2ltr t9 five speed and standard auto diff revs way to freely in first gear and goes no where maybe about 20kmh its a usless gear does 2600 revs in fifth at 100 kmh could any one recomend a better diff ratio ?

Hey guys i just not long ago brought a alloy roll cage just for looks for my escort and i was told it would be sweet to get certed as an ornimental interior thing as long as it was bolted in right this is not for raceing just looks if any one knows if this can be certed so i dont get held up by the cops please let me know Cheers
