  1. most vals ran the type 78 diff boe. How many spline are your axles? I can turn you up sone adapter bushes to make the bolts you have fit if need be. I've sold a few sets to peeps who have adapted R200 VLSD's to longnose R200's for datsuns. Depending on the spline count, the 3.23:1 is the diff for choice for Vals. The E series chargers an said ratio in them. (But they were a handfull in the wet!)
  2. At this time, I'm still waiting on the UC's at Kelfords to grind my cam! They've only had it two fucking weeks!
  3. Hey kiddies, it's that time again! This Epic day of non stop datsun madness is open to all Datsuns, Datsun era Nissans, and vehicles manufactured by the prince motor company. SUNDAY, 25th of October. (The sunday of labour weekend) Meeting, at the halswell domain, Halswell rd at 9:30 am. we're going to Akaroa, with a few pub stops along the way. And a BBQ lunch in Akaroa. This is going to be the biggest datsun get-together in the country this year! Last year saw 31 cars turn out, and the weather was atrocious! We have members coming from as far away as the Hawkes bay! bring your datto out, and come meet a great bunch of like minded people. further details can be found here; http://www.nzdatsun.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=413 Tell your friends! PS, Dave and Rob, I fully expect you two sad bastards to make the effort and show up!
  4. I did a winter in my 1200 with no heater. A friend gave me a 12V hair dryer that he had left over from a hotrod he'd owned. I'd drive to work on a bitterly cold frosty morning wearing gloves, with the dryer in one hand trying to defrost the window so I could see. It was up to fuck all I'd have to say. Doesn't mean you can't get better ones though. FTR, I'm going to install a factory heater back into the 1200 at some time. 80% of the energy is lost as heat, and considering how friggin cold it gets here, I gag to put some of it to good use!
  5. Thanks guys. Got it all sorted.
  6. Hey, I have an inline four which I'm slapping together with pistons from another flavour on engine. I don't know which way the piston is suposed to go on the pin, (There is no notch to say front on them)So which way does the gudgeon pin offset go. (as a rule of thumb)
  7. WIN! just to clarify, (Cos there are many different models of crowns) was your crown diff out of a crown of the same style as crownin' around's toyota crown?
  8. Bout time you started a build thread for this bad boy Chris. I love the mint-ness of the donor car
  9. C20's can do anything! Plus then you wouldn't be limited to 90km/h like when towing a trailer. Mine could get air over the fords north of kaikoura. And that was full of tools.
  10. arrrrghhhh! attack of the JDM wheel brigade!
  11. I'd love to know who thier australasian distributer is. Especially now that ACL has gone into liquidation. I often use that online catalog to scope potential alternative pistons for motor combo's.
  12. what bits have you been having trouble finding dude? There is a listing for a piston for a daihatsu 360 here http://www.jccpiston.com/ I have no idea who their agents might be, but if you can find out you might be able to get some there. (If it wasn't pistons you were after, or if the ones listed aint what you need, I napolige for my failure to read your thread properly)
  13. fair enough. I ussually set a set of 11 (One spare cos they are very easy to lose) for $30. They are piss easy to make, but bloody time consuming.
  14. I make the adapter bushes to put the longnose crownwheeel, onto the later viscous center. The viscous centers used both 12, and 13mm crownwheel bolts. If anyone needs a set of bushes, Pm me.
  15. I use a bloke named Jeff who works out of a small shop in behind the challange garage on port hills rd. You enter from the carpark of the hillsbourough tavern. He does a good job, and isn't too expensive.
  16. see that you do! PS, check out my new head, 42mm inlets FTW!
  17. I think to run an atmo dump BOV, you need to have it sprung so that the manifold vaccuum at idle doesn't pull it open, but when you get the big vaccuum spike of a gear shift, it vents the surplus air.
  18. He has a diagram he drafted which has all the un-necessary shit deleted, and shows what goes where when putting one into an old car.
  19. All GX heads had larger than stock inlet ports. Post pictures, I need them for my wank bank.
  20. post lots of pics of this head you scored lad.
  21. Are your coil packs any good? Does sound a bit like bad spark. If your coils are sad it'll want to foul plugs/run like arse.
  22. Back in the 90's a kid at high school had one of thses bad boys. Damn they must use no gas. you'll be able to tour the south island for all the meets, and spend no coin doing it.
  23. That gebbies pass rd is fucking sweet! My datsun loves it. One day when my car is propely sorted, I'll be so into events like that.
  24. 3mm is fuck all. If you're running those uber gay shank nuts, (which most of my cars run ) you could machine 3mm's off the shoulder, (to lengthen the thread engagement) to compensate for the reduction in avaiable thread. BUT if you did do that, make very very sure than none of the shank protrudes beyond the rear face of the mag. if it does the nut will bottom out, and it wont provide any clamping force. And will undo it's self without warning.
