  1. Hi Anthony! (Tony to a few of us stil) Welcome to oldschool you magnificent beast! You better get this sorted in time for labour weekend!
  2. Now that this is a four day odyssey, theres a bit less worry about the support crew being left three hours behind the pack. If you're game for some possibly gnarly terrain (some, but not all of it is obviously) I'd be honoured if you came along. Having enjoyed your company (and outstanding hospitality!) On three separate occasions, I'd love to share this adventure with you if the stars align. Obviously we dont want it to turn into a 4wd trip that follows a small bike trip. But imho, you're a bit different to the average run of the mill hanger on. (Given your significant and selfless contribution to a number of the north islands premier small bike adventures.
  3. Cough, supercharger, cough......
  4. Worth noting his will probably be a four day ride now too. (I've been too useless to update the thread yet)
  5. Driving a truck that far would almost be more miserable than riding a bike
  6. There is sure to be quite the team from chch heading down. So bikes could be tailored no problem. It's probably only a 3.5 hour small bike pest to the start point for any maniacs that addicted to misery.
  7. I dont remember saying that. I do remember you professing that "I'm going to get a smaller bike for next year"....
  8. Put some knobblys on the Hornet! Same ride on Sunday a guy had a CBR250 on road tyres. He dropped it like 9 times in the mud.
  9. I was talking to a guy on a ride on Sunday who reckoned going up the rock steps on small bikes would be easier than going down them. (Hes been down them)
  10. I have little to add, except that quite some years ago there was an EF9(?) Civic on trademe with a 13b bridgey. It ran a fwd 5 speed from a Camry.
  11. Slap in a lifan, and some sr241s, and send it.
  12. I'm just the spokesperson. @Mof completed this ride solo in three days at easter past. So its doable?
  13. You'll never find a smoother rotating rottisarie.
  14. Typically the ride had been named after where it rides on day 1. Molesworth Marlborough Maruia McKenzie Eventually we'll run out of places starting with "M". But we'll burn the bridge when we come to it.
  15. Yes I've edited that. Its friday night and my brain is somewhat addled.
  16. Enter here: https://www.emailmeform.com/builder/form/pJKCz7d8D8O4ZN Although the end of the pesting season is fast approaching, the fizz is still strong. So save the date, and start readying yourself (and your machine) for the Most Ambitious moped melee yet! 2024 will see us starting and finishing in Fairlie. With four massive days riding. Featuring both mindblowing scenery, and some grueling "trails". The total distance for this ride is 968kms over the four days. And Although this is a ride for small bikes, we're asking riders bring bikes capable of a sustained 70-75+kph. (Where the road surface permits) we have such a great distance to cover each day, that a bike that only does 60 is going to slow the pack down too much. you have almost 11 months to sort your bikes. Make sure your chains and sprockets are good. That you engine runs strong and reliably. Theres either a fuel filter, or no shit in your tank. You're going to need a spare clutch/brake lever. Tools to fix a puncture. A spare tube. The maps will be posted up shortly. LETS RIDE BIKES! Entries: D van Asch R Begley A Williams G Gaskell A Mealing J Burgess V Findlay R Moffat D Chaston B Simpson S Wallace N Ritchie K Raines H Dawber S Buttle A van Asch S Jensen
  17. I dont want this to become a ride for "big bikes" But the back up guys dont want to be stuck behind super slow bikes. 90-185cc is the target range.
  18. We have almost 11 months for everyone to get their machines running tip top. A dead bike is a dead bike. (It happens) but riding all the way to the end is heaps more fun than sitting in a back up vehicle with your bike on a trailer.
  19. The other CT wasnt running right. The back up vehicles expressed frustration at being stuck doing 60 on a 100kph road. (Which is understandable) This years ride is nearly 1000kms. The back up vehicles have to be the last across the line. (Because anyone can break down at any time, and cell coverage isnt relaible) but the guys driving back up wanna get where we're going, and have a beer too.
