Nissan Micra k11 - Mandy goes to a new happy home.

I guess there's a fetish for everything. -
Didn't this particular example have a red block Holden six in it at one stage?
-
You could always wind it out on the starting handle @yoeddynz.

Even if seat belts were a factory option and the car has the factory anchor points already in place? That makes no sense.

My EN1 Civic came from the factory with only four seat belts. I fitted a lap belt taken from the front bench of a Falcon in the centre seat position in the back of the Civic using the factory seat belt bolts. My wof guy never questioned the additional seat belt. Perhaps he should have? A few years later I fitted the same lap belt in the centre back seating position in my Wolseley 1300 but without factory anchor points (factory belts on two front seats only) and that was never questioned either. Would be very interested to know the actual rules are for this.

Is there still an economy advantage with a small diesel vehicle when ruc is taken into account or does it then come pretty close to a similarly sized petrol vehicle cost wise?

My son and I once drove from near Mosgiel to Balclutha in my coon, towing, with the reserve light on. Must have been running on fumes when we got there cos it took 85.7 litres to fill it up.

Wylde's 1974 Leyland P76 Executive Discussion

When the P76 first came out I thought they were huge and ugly. Now I rather like the look of them. Following your build thread with interest. -
Is that John Deere green?

If the new garage is to be only a little bit longer and wider than the existing you might get away with just doing it and saying nothing. Call it repairs and maintenance.

Thank you @GregT. What you say makes a lot of sense. Unfortunately the boy ran out of patience shortly after I took the above pics. He's using it right now. He lit a small fire in it first just to melt/burn the bucket enough to force the blow pipes through then gave it another day before going balls out twin hair dryer fan forced coal fired can melting. It's working quite well but there is some erosion of the face of the fire chamber and around the blow pipes. I suggested to him that he might like to clean it out and repair the eroded areas with a very stiff sand/plaster mix. Is this likely to be helpful in extending the life of the thing or is it a waste of effort?

I thought that too.

One for the structural (and potentially other) engineers amongst us. My youngest has constructed a forge/foundry using a refractory cement consisting of a 50/50 mix of casting plaster and paving sand. We poured the thing on Monday evening. He is questioning how long he should allow it to cure before lighting a fire in it. I suggested 28 days as being the standard period for testing concrete samples. He's hoping to get away with a lot less. All advice gratefully accepted.

I love the way you're using this car in the manner in which it was intended rather than putting it on display somewhere for people to point at and say "how quaint". -
any builders in chch looking for a cashie in the new year

Resource consent or building consent? Different things. -
Nah, mate. That'd ruin it. Prob go harder though. Jokes aside I hope you'll be happy with your new toy @Flash. I'd kind of like an old six banger one myself. Probably bugger all of those left cos so many prefer the V8.

Should be able to do this under emergency works and sort out the consents later.
