  1. http://www.mgb-stuff.org.uk/paint.htm Should be Tundra or Brooklands Green in 1976, but looks more like 1975's New Racing Green to my eyes.
  2. A closed road event like a hillclimb is treated like a circuit event, so a trailered car just needs no wof/reg, just needs to to pass scrutineering. That's how it worked when I did club events many years ago, the MSNZ permit would stipulate minimum requirements, and scrutineering would be held in someone's workshop.
  3. Is that just the nature of a Holley, or does no-one bother to jet them properly?
  4. Re the 5 stud wheels on the ute, possibly they were fitted with heavy duty parts from the Major or Westminster? Bit like the Marina ute and 10cwt van got the A60 axle and 4x4.5" pcd instead of the Herald diff and 4x3.75" pcd.
  5. I don't know, but I could ask some of the people I work with at Chorus.
  6. I think they were intended more for load "levelling" when you loaded up the boot, may not have the right stroke length for lowering 4", might depend on if they have internal bump stops?
  7. Smiths or VDO, but both are spendy. Check out boat chandlers too.
  8. If you want to go diesel, a Land Rover TD5 will go straight in, might even be able to use the 2000 mounts, as it was derived from the O-series.
  9. What's the story with slotted mags? Are they legal and safe to use on the road? https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/car-parts-accessories/wheels-tyres/alloy-wheels/listing/3864466511
  10. I thought our Honda Jazz was a small car, at 4m, but even that's a foot longer than the 1100. My wife's first car was a Mk3 1300. My first car (in 1979) was a 1968 Mini 1000 Deluxe, an Aussie one with windup windows, carpets and heater. Luxury! Eventually fitted a ported and polished Cooper head and increased power from 42 bhp to 70+ bhp, and raced it at Ruapuna. Then sold it to my sister, who got rear ended hard enough to write it off. I presume you haven't found any significant rust?
  11. Amazing that the Mini and 1100 were the best selling cars throughout the 60s here and in the UK. About the only car available here today shorter than 3.8m is the Kia Picanto.
  12. Simplicity would say fit a later Nissan engine, that can reuse as much of what you have as possible. If the RB20 or RB30 share the same bellhousing bolt pattern and engine mounts, that could be a simple swap. Or a QR25 from an X-Trail.
  13. My bad for not asking about the stock tyre size. Most '70s English and Jap cars were a couple of sizes smaller, 155x13, so 175/70 or 205/60 are ideal. You'll need 205/70 or 235/60, both hard to find or spendy
  14. 185s look silly imo, will 205s fit under the guards? Tyre calculator says 155x13 = 175/70×13 = 205/60×13, so slightly undersized compared to 185/70×13.
  15. Some info here https://www.safairmontgt.com.au/
  16. Hope the plenum has "Hillmonda Flat Sex" engraved on it.
  17. Correct. Helped to get the Coupe over the line by spreading some of the costs around. Also made it easier to stash stuff behind the seat in the ute.
  18. One of my favourite Fords. My dad had a 73 XA wagon from new, a 200 3-on-the-tree in Cosmic blue metallic, running ROH Drag mags. The envy of my mates when I was at primary school. I had a 76 XB ute, 250 3-on-the-tree with LSD and canopy, great tow car and useful camper. I see your dad's doors have the common dent from the stays not being up to the job, and the wind blowing them too far open.
  19. Barn find Rover P6B engine and selection of Rovers in Whangarei https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/car-parts-accessories/austin-rover/listing/3656942786?bof=SLwkVWPv
  20. Isn't tweed more of a Landrover thing?
  21. Good, that's the fighting British bulldog spirit. Good excuse to get a Disco V8 and see if the ZF auto will fit in the hole.
