  1. Apparently the Sierra V6 type 9 has a longer input shaft, but would be for the German V6. Did the two V6 engines have the same bellhousing bolt pattern? I assume the bolt pattern on the Type 9 is different to the earlier 4-speed, so you can't just use the original V6 bellhousing? Or could you redrill the original bellhousing to fit the Type 9? Have you asked on Retro Rides?
  2. This is how it looks in Ian Shaw's replica of the UDT World Cup Marathon V8 Marina.
  3. I can recall one of the speed shops in Christchurch selling a "pod cover" that fitted over one of those pressed metal 3-gauge mounting plates, that could be trimmed to match the dash shape, so you could imitate the GT dash look.
  4. That's what I recall reading, the wood and upholstery were done here to keep up the local content. They must have imported some GTs, as a school friend bought his brother's one with the "proper" GT dash. As an aside, I have a 3D printed replica of a BL Special Tuning 3-gauge cluster for my Marina, that replaced the radio speaker grille in the dash on the Group 2 rally cars.
  5. I think Ford NZ did a copy of the English 1600E dash?
  6. This is another dash option. The Mk2 Cortina GTE had this setup, with the gauges mounted behind a timber facia.
  7. What are they out of? Looks to me like the pin holds it all together and is punched/flared during assembly. You might be able to drill out the end of the pin, but them I'm not sure how you'd put it back together?
  8. @kws had the same challenge with his Marina, there's a very detailed description of his solution with photos and everything on his build thread
  9. Actually, hard to know where they are actually made, but SuperFlex and SuperPro share part numbers for Morris and Hillman bushes, e.g. SuperFlex SF234-0669K and SuperPro SPF0669K for the Marina Tie Bar/Strut Bar bushes.
  10. iirc the Coby I fitted back in the 80s had the inlet end slotted so it could be clamped onto a slightly smaller pipe, always got a WOF from Marshlands Garage like that.
  11. The supplier PIC said they were waiting on their SP, which was probably Superpro, just my jumping to conclusions that the lengthy wait was getting them from the UK and not from across town. Possibly SuperPro just make them on demand.
  12. I'll see if I can get some pics of the rubber profile, with any luck they might have used the same profile as other BL cars with butterfly windows - 2-door ADO16 1100 or Mini maybe?
  13. The Coby I had on my Mini did a good job, the old muffler had rusted and literally fell off leaving an open pipe, the Coby quietened it down to a socially acceptable "sporty loud" level.
  14. Luckily my seals are in good condition (or a previous owner has replaced them). Are your windows fixed or opening?
  15. Oof, 2 years since the last update. Finally pulled finger and ordered four sets of Superpro suspension bushes. Ordered them from an Aussie crowd on Trademe, who offered a package deal that was pretty good. Ended up getting charged about 20% more, because they quoted in Aussie dollars. Decided not to complain, as it was still cheaper than I could get from anywhere else. Took a long time to arrive, as they had to order some in from the UK. But they're here now, dispatched from Aussie on the weekend and delivered today. Also used a Supercheap voucher I got from work to buy a new grease gun. Now I need to make time to go into the store to get some rubber lube that I couldn't seem to order online. Then I can put the rear quarterlight windows in. And make a trip to the transfer station to get rid of some old furniture that has cluttered up the garage.
  16. I had Coby extractors and muffler on my Mini 1000 back in the 80s, can't recall the diameter, but was the longest one that would tuck in the subframe. Dynoed 58bhp at the wheels, sounded sporty, but was quiet enough my mum didn't complain about it.
  17. Aussie Hunters had a Borg Warner 68 or 70, same as Aussie Escorts, Datsun 1200s, Corollas and Marinas. So did the Sigma and Magna iirc.
  18. Another narrow option is the post 67 MGB axle, strong enough to handle the V8, Quaife upgrades available.
  19. Factory drain holes, Mr Wof Inspector. Minis venting through the wheel arch was a similar inventive solution, never heard anyone complain of it overheating the brake on that side. Probably not a good idea to have a reverse-facing scoop, as the high pressure zone at the base of the windscreen will push the air the wrong way.
  20. Love it, looks great on those wheels.
  21. Chevy call it the lower thermostat housing https://www.12bolt.com/store/p157/Thermostat_Housing_Upper_Lower_New_194_230_250_292.html
  22. Since Austin based the engine on the Chevy Stovebolt 6, as did Bedford, either of those may prove to be donors? From https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chevrolet_Stovebolt_engine :- This engine was also used in GM's British Bedford truck. In the late 1930s rival Austin decided to get into the 2-3 ton truck ("lorry") market and in a crash program based the design on the basic architecture of this "Stove Bolt" engine, except that they added detachable shell main and con-rod bearings and pressurized lubrication.
  23. Here's some info on the K-series 6-cylinder petrol engine. D-series was the car version, used in the 1950s Austin Sheerline and Princess, and in 4-cylinder form in the Healy 100-4 and London black cabs. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Austin_D-Series_engine
  24. Diesel repower discussed in this thread https://www.trucknetuk.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=149672 Says the 3.9 petrol was shared with Nuffield tractors. Someone suggests a Landrover TDi from an early Disco.
