  1. +1 - your ammeter probably isn't designed to have the load of the whole car running through it.
  2. surely one of you guys can crib the blueprints from an old flash gordon movie or someting? or consort with The Mekon....
  3. so the next incarnation is going to have to be satin white, with all the decals mirrored, and right hand drive. and an ADB badge! and he'll be called edispilf evets.
  4. Yowser succumbs to the darstardly reverse psychology of my post. hopefully KK will go through the process of 'hmmm, well err no why not just get the grinder and nibbler out, and mig up Steve. After all, buying another to blend parts just wouldn't be the same car."
  5. contrary to everyone else's view, I think the bullets will be okay. not so much use on the guards - they're rather small - but on the doors, okay. It was de riguer back in the 70's to run the bullets. yes, +1 keep up the great work. when I was 15 it was working on my mate's VW's, or my sister's HC Viva.
  6. looking pretty sharp, Liam! I'm looking forward to seeing it back on the deck.
  7. yes, but did you close on the acquisition of a T5?!
  8. come on man, even the re-shell. steve deserves it! http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/morris/1100/auction-547869704.htm
  9. How can this be, KK? Is Steve really beyond repair? that's a real shame - to think my image caught him in his 'prime'. tube frame the front, and hang the panels off it? guess I'd better photograph the commode before you V8 it...
  10. fair enough! that would not be unreasonable, and would likely have struck a balance between hard-line ethics and keeping an existing customer happy and maintaining that relationship.
  11. well, I understand your opinion and viewpoint; I guess we simply disagree (I think Page displayed strong ethics). If I were the proprietor of the business and heard you weren't expecting a freebie as you did not hold value in the report, but withheld further business on the basis of not getting the information for free - I'd interpret that as 'you expected the information for free/a freebie'. to spin it the other way - you're the proprietor. I come in and say "hey, so you did the inspection - how'd it look? I don't really hold much value in what you've just charged for - can I have a look out of curiousity?" - you'd probably tell me to F*%k off, and quickly. simple solution - if the purchaser suggests there's loads wrong having read the report, there's four simple words to use: "show me the proof" - and you can negotiate accordingly. cheers
  12. who was paying for the pre-purch? if it wasn't you, and was your prospective purchaser - it's fair enough, mate. their contract is with the purchaser, the one engaging and paying for their services. were you expecting a freebie? If you paid for a house valuation, you'd be pretty pissed if they then gifted the information you'd paid for, to the vendor.
  13. I use Peter at All European Service in Holland Street, for the stuff I can't do myself. He's good to deal with, trained on euros, and has the gear. Good advice, good service.
  14. how's this coming along, and did you end up pulling the float in the parade?
  15. hhhmmmmm, there's gotta be a joke in there somewhere, adding VAG into Multipla...
  16. I think you're on the right track, v band - there'll be something out there that does just what you're looking for - or can be altered. bit like a large jubilee clip, only in a vee. shame about the new motor - still, it's not all over yet. sometimes things really are simple - rather than the complex worst-case we consider. I was thinking fuel phase separation in my BMW recently, and all it needed was a new fuel pump. the same fuel is running fine, and the car's running better than ever. HTH
  17. great idea for carb meshes. I'd be concerned about the PVC tape holding them on though, the heat in your engine bay is going to blitz the adhesive and distort the tape. something more mechanical is what you're after.
  18. that's rad, I love the fighter-plane shark mouth motif. nice work!
  19. I'll catch up with you guys next meet - my OS BTCC candiate has the pip. hosted on flickr I guess since I've not been to one of these I'm not in a position to question committment to a windy beach. I mean, dermabrasion should be good for the skin - I picture 20 old-schoolers on a beach looking windblown, all wearing welding goggles to protect eyeballs from abrasive windblown sand. could be a great photo for the 2014 OS calendar.
  20. thanks KK #; ) yep, that's me. I sometimes visit up your way, I think I saw Steve in your backyard area a while back? In fact, for about 5 or 6 months back in 1997, we lived at number 140 (if I recall correctly), a 1BR rental before we purchased. viz I'm not a stalker, I just like heading up to the old neighbourhood every once in a while, and like the views from up there. Thanks for the invite! I may be able to make next Thursday, it'd be good to meet some of the gang. I'll see if the BM is back on the road by then, which will free up my OS BTCC candidate from family duties, and carry me out there. cheers
  21. hey, I don't expect an invite, as you guys only know me on here (and from my uber-famous image of KK's Steve Austin), I thought I'd post to say "awesome idea - really cool". I have neither a garage or an OS project (apart from the OS BTCC candidate), but if I did I'd display similar caution in opening up my shed to folks I don't know. Takes bloody years to accumulate toolage and hard work for the $$, doesn't take long for some asswipe to lift them. I'm about to track down the spring compressors I lent out to a mate about six years ago... PS - the prospect to seeing Steve Austin back on the road is an exciting one, time for a project update KK #8 )
