  1. Good progress! Did you track down any information about legalities of frame modification?
  2. The last stuff I used on the moped was sweet at the header end, but seemed to flake off at the cooler end of the muffler, so thought I would just do it in the oven to be consistent. Haven't decided about the seat yet. I really like the style chris (born loser) has done on his, which was just a cut up skateboard retrimmed. I think mine might have a bit wider frame, so will probably end up making something either out of laminated wood or aluminium. Will have a go at making something myself out of some vinyl or something, to see how I like the look/shape then eventually get it professionally trimmed.
  3. Not a lot of progress yet. Have ordered a set of bar end mirrors and some new grips which should be here soon hopefully. Have pulled off the exhaust to paint with some of that ceramic high temp paint. Flatmates not so impressed with my use of the oven, smells absolutely terrible. Exhaust looked pretty terrible before, so should tidy things up a lot until I get around to buying some better mufflers.

    TMC's 1980 V50

Looking good. Got a seat for it, or just sitting on the tank?

    ODBs V50

It's not a bad idea to run a little 2 stroke mix in the main tank, 50:1 ratio or higher in case the oil pump fails. A little more 2 smoke is a lot better then a seized engine
  6. Picked this up about a month ago for a pretty good price. De-reg and needed a bit of work, but was cheap. So far I have fixed up the wiring and a few other things for the re-vin, which after a few hassles finally managed to get sorted today. Feeling pretty broke after the re-vin, rego and car rego/insurance so progress will be pretty slow on this until I've saved up a bit of coin again. Planning on just riding it for now, then when funds allow going to go for a brat style look, similar to below. The wiring is a complete mess at the moment, so will probably end up doing a full re-wire. It's already running pod filters on the carbs and seems to have been jetted accordingly, which will make things easier. Seat is ugly and has a few rips in it, so that will be next to go. Hopefully cut the frame back a bit and weld in a new rear loop to get a cleaner line.
  7. Enford should be able to get the right one for you, although he doesn't specifically advertise for Escort stuff he has a lot of crossflow parts. Worth a call at least, the guy is pretty helpful http://www.enford.com/
  8. Are you running an inertia switch or some way to cut off the fuel pump in case of an accident? If not, might be worth considering doing
  9. Can't beat burnouts for breaking in a new engine! Not sure how well you will get on with supercharging a 2 stroke, many have tried and failed. The main issue is that due to the 2 stroke design if you use forced induction you will end up just blowing all the extra fuel/air straight out of the exhaust. You might be better off making a tuned exhaust for it (expansion chamber). Don't let me put you off though, be interested to see how it turns out!
  10. That bike/moped is going to be a complete death trap, fucking love it! What's the engine from? Any photos of the supercharger for it?
  11. The one built into solidworks seems to work pretty well from my experience
  12. Certainly an ambitious project! Seems to be coming along pretty nicely though. Reg on hold or dereg? If dereg, I presume you're aware of the need for a repair cert for rust repairs?
  13. That is such a sweet car! Looks to be in fairly mint condition too
  14. That paintjob seems to have come out pretty nicely. Agree about the intercooler, I reckon it would look at lot tidier in satin black or something and ideally mounted back a bit more
  15. There was a build of a datsun a12 with ITB's on it here, looks pretty tidy
  16. Have a look at this //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/19845-2l-pinto-type9-5speed-into-escort/

    Muffler Tech

In my escort I have a big muffler before it goes over the diff, then a small resonator after before it exits. Water seems to have been getting trapped in the resonator and has rusted it out a bit, what would happen if I replaced it with a bit of straight pipe? Sound like shit/backpressure issues or would it be sweet? If straight pipe is fine I'll just cut it out, but if I need it I might try to patch it up as feeling pretty broke currently after getting motorbike re-vinned.
  18. Yeah, around 200A is what you want. As kpr said you can get away without anything if you make sure that the cable is properly protected and can't rub through. If you wanted some additional peace of mind or a junction you would be fine with just a fuse, which would be cheaper then a circuit breaker

    Abarths V50

Ebay is your best bet for getting parts like points from, http://www.ebay.com/itm/YAMAHA-V50-V70-V75-V90-RS100-RS125-YB100-CONTACT-BREAKER-POINTS-11-/300953962752?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts_13&hash=item4612410900&vxp=mtr Might pay to check those are the right ones, if not just have a search, there's a few on there You don't actually legally need a mirror on them, but if you are using it for commuting it might be useful I suppose
  20. I'm assuming it's the same as a boost bottle? http://wikiscootia.wikidot.com/boost-bottle I've never had any experience with them, I was reading an article a while ago which claimed they were crap, from a brief google there seemed to be mixed reviews. If you are looking to squeeze some more power out of the 2 stroke an expansion chamber is your best solution. There is almost certainly someone who has done some calculations for a FA50, which is the hard part
  21. Not much help, but if you don't have any luck tracking one down there are a couple of escorts at pick-a-part at the moment, one of them might have one.
  22. Those accuspark electronic ignition modules off trademe seem to work pretty well, certainly a lot better then points. You can adapt a fully electronic distributor, there's some good info here but those accuspark ones are literally about 30 minutes to install and seem to work great, less mucking around involved. I haven't got too far into it, that was going to be my next project then I ended up buying a motorbike which is taking my time/money instead. From what I had been reading you ideally want 36-38mm carbs to work with either 1300 or 1600 engines, no point going bigger unless running a really wild cam or something. There is some good info here from a guy that did it. Shaneo is probably the man to talk to about it though.
