NicT
Hey guys, I thought id start a page of engineering type projects i do start and share with everyone. I welcome everyone to throw up their projects as well, anything to do with 3d Scanning, 3d Printing, CNC machining or just general "thats cool" engineering stuff. I thought id throw up a BMX race stem i designed. It is made on a 5 Axis incremental DMG (deckle Maho) CNC Mill. This was done on a trunion style machine with a rotary table. It was programmed from the solid model using Edgecam and was kindly machined for me by a friend. Stem was designed in Solidworks 2013 to be used as a BMX race stem weighing 10 oz (bmx stuff is in pounds and ounces so its easier to use this unit of measurement when comparing to other parts) Tool paths I should be getting the finished parts with caps early next week, i cant wait!
slacker.cam
That looks awesome dude. What's your plan to finish these parts? Tumble them and then anodise? Cheeky question. Would your mate be willing to do CNC machine work for others at prices that aren't as expensive as retail rates?

Would your mate be willing to do CNC machine work for others at prices that aren't as expensive as retail rates? PM Me, it does take a loooooooonnnnnnng time to get stuff done by him. I wrote the program, and the machining time is 34 minutes, proberly took me 3 hours to write the program. Took him 5 weeks to machine it haha And i will be leaving it raw for now and abusing the crap out of it to see if i should make some more to sell/give to friends
