Painting.. hmm, don’t enjoy it.. that and digging holes, so finishing off this front fence is a pretty good achievement.. may need to add a couple of posts on the left but I’m calling it job done, tick that off the list.

I always wanted to paint the fence black (using old diesel oil.. read: tight arse), and also always wanted to paint the gate a different colour that accents the black and will carry through to the shed and house.. I had a colour in my mind but didn’t really know until I looked at samples what would actually eventuate. Funnily enough this is not what I was thinking of as I originally was thinking a honey colour, but I’m super stoked how it turned out.. Couldn’t be happier.

Saturdays effort just before the rain set in..

And todays result.. super happy to get this done.

That looks fucking awesome, and quite jealous for mulitple reasons. Had been thinking the huge posts are a great look with the post and rail. I've been wanting to do the same, but with a single sliding large gate. Our house is too modern so trying to get something that looks appropriate. How did you stain the fencing?  roller/brush or spray?

what are the name of those large posts on your gateway, any idea where to get them from or similar? cheers

Thanks, yea I was pretty rapt how it turned out.. I just go with the flow and let these things evolve.

I rollered the oil on the rails and used a fence brush on the posts. When I do another coat in spring I’ll probably try spraying it on if it’s not too thick thru the machine.

The posts are marine or wharf post offcuts, you see them popping up every now and then. Not sure if they guy I bought them off has any left.. he had a few in his yard (as you can see in my first post).

Cheers mate.. yea they’ve been sitting for a year or two mostly wrapped but still weathered and they were still in good condition.. was a cancelled job so I got them for free from work. I sprayed the frames with framesaver as well for piece of mind.

I’m in the Hauraki district

Yea those velux flashing kits are junk. Probably don't meet the building code too. Good move going for custom made flashing.

Yep, I’m happy with the direction of the flashings now.. I positioned the skylights up close to the ridge so the back flashing won’t be too long..

Cladding is trucking along, got it to window head height.. may need to get an experienced installer to complete from there up as it’s proved too hard for my builder.. happy with progress nonetheless.
