Popular Post j.e.d.
Lots of progress in a week. Started on a Saturday sorting thru frames.. I got a house lot free from work so just need to make them work for my shed. Took a day to do that and stand the first few frames. View from the top of the frames we were sorting out.. First frame up.. End of day progress.. Following day got a lot more done, then the push for the week was to get the frames plumb and nailed down ready for trusses.. Friday truss delivery day.. got the work truck/driver to hang around and help us stand each truss.. Scissor trusses in the garage area for the hoist, attic trusses over the other end for storage. Timelapse makes everything looks easier than it is.. this was over 5 hours.. Things will slow down a little now to do things like bolting frames and doing all the brackets and tie downs, installing window opening framing and levelling the trusses/purlins ready for the roof.. oh, and the shit weather.
Popular Post j.e.d.
More decent progress.. truss and framing all done.. amazing all the little things that need doing that you don’t even think about when you say “let’s just build a shed”. Passed pre-wrap this morning so next stage is roof install. 22

I always wanted to paint the fence black (using old diesel oil.. read: tight arse), and also always wanted to paint the gate a different colour that accents the black and will carry through to the shed and house.. I had a colour in my mind but didn’t really know until I looked at samples what would actually eventuate. Funnily enough this is not what I was thinking of as I originally was thinking a honey colour, but I’m super stoked how it turned out.. Couldn’t be happier. Saturdays effort just before the rain set in.. And todays result.. super happy to get this done. That looks fucking awesome, and quite jealous for mulitple reasons. Had been thinking the huge posts are a great look with the post and rail. I've been wanting to do the same, but with a single sliding large gate. Our house is too modern so trying to get something that looks appropriate. How did you stain the fencing? roller/brush or spray? what are the name of those large posts on your gateway, any idea where to get them from or similar? cheers
j.e.d.
Thanks, yea I was pretty rapt how it turned out.. I just go with the flow and let these things evolve. I rollered the oil on the rails and used a fence brush on the posts. When I do another coat in spring I’ll probably try spraying it on if it’s not too thick thru the machine. The posts are marine or wharf post offcuts, you see them popping up every now and then. Not sure if they guy I bought them off has any left.. he had a few in his yard (as you can see in my first post).

rusty360
Looking good! Love the use of the new / old frames! How long can they shit outside for before they toast? I'm picking they just H1.2?. Are you out onewhero ways?
j.e.d.
Cheers mate.. yea they’ve been sitting for a year or two mostly wrapped but still weathered and they were still in good condition.. was a cancelled job so I got them for free from work. I sprayed the frames with framesaver as well for piece of mind. I’m in the Hauraki district
Popular Post j.e.d.
Monthly update.. Got the roof on. What a drama. Thought I would be saving time/money getting the flashing kits with the Velux skylights.. nope. Unless I was planning on doing the roof myself, no roofer wants to use these and would rather install a custom flashing. Oh well, roof is on, just need to order the skylight and barge flashings which will be done when I’m ready to order the sill and fascia flashings in a few days. Shed is all wrapped and cavity battened.. due to going with metal cladding the battens need to be separate from the steel due to the CCA treatment, so we stapled a strip of DPC to every batten. Got flooring down in the attic storage space.. And moved the water tank to its spot.. Cladding inspection passed today, so another big few days coming up soon.
Thphantum
Yea those velux flashing kits are junk. Probably don't meet the building code too. Good move going for custom made flashing.

Cladding is trucking along, got it to window head height.. may need to get an experienced installer to complete from there up as it’s proved too hard for my builder.. happy with progress nonetheless.
