MACKAZ Posted May 16, 2023 Author Posted May 16, 2023 Just a plain solid colour. Not metallic or anything crazy. Just needs to be brighter than the black/green. I’m thinking orange but jury is still deliberating Quote
MACKAZ Posted May 16, 2023 Author Posted May 16, 2023 That’s enough for tonight I’ll do rest with stripper wheel tomorrow night 3 Quote
MACKAZ Posted July 14, 2023 Author Posted July 14, 2023 Have applied a fair amount of etch primer to the tins. Guide coat on tank/front guard. The tedious task of 400 wet n dry starts tomorrow. We decided on a colour and bought it. I am going to paint it with rattle cans and it is not going to be orange. It’s going to be a light blue with the original badging on the tank. Should be different 2 Quote
MACKAZ Posted July 15, 2023 Author Posted July 15, 2023 Aaaaannnnddddd I’ve just been thrown a curveball. Wife has decided that the blue is too much. Back to Bunnings in the morning…..Hhmmmm. 3 2 1 Quote

MACKAZ Posted September 20, 2023 Author Posted September 20, 2023 Pictureless update due to being angry at myself. Had tank and front guard in top coat and had sanded the couple of small runs out. Gave it a wipe down with a rag and some prepsol. Let it dry and started putting on the (what I thought would be) topcoat before the clear. Finished up and left them in the sun. Went back half an hour later and the frigging lot has reacted. Turns out this Rustoleum paint doesn’t like prepsol. FUCK IT ALL. so front guard has been ripped back to bare steel again. Tank tomorrow. Faaaaaarrrrrrrrkkkkkkk it all 1 1 Quote
Lord Gruntfuttock Posted September 20, 2023 Posted September 20, 2023 Did someone say strippers and clingfilm...? And I've been caught out with incompatible paints too, or just being too impatient and spraying before grease and wax remover has evaporated off. Inadvertent wrinkle finish. It sucks but you learn... 1 Quote
