Popular Post d.p.n.s
just the rear valance to go now.. almost all the black has gone.. the roof is as good as going to get ....I'm not that keen. this car will be mint from a far but far from mint... I plan on driving this and it's going to get dirty and dented probably ....I just want it looking clean and not black....... it's not a 20 grand paint job ..all of the paint supplies including bog, primer, sand paper, masking sheets and tape, tack rags, panel wipe, paint ,all the thinners and mixing cups ..$580 to my door... but one thing I will say it makes me realize the work that has gone into the other mk3 ....and if it had been this rust free I wouldn't have modified it.... anywhere roof and sides all done..
d.p.n.s
I've also been talking to a mate about under bonnet heat and after much chatting I'm going to need to vent the heat.. I was going to just lift the back of the bonnet and hope for the best ..but we put a model mk3 in a theoretical wind tunnel and the best place to draw heat out of the engine....like most cars is in the front half of the bonnet.....and I want to do that before I paint it... wasn't really wanting to cut holes in a mk3 bonnet...but this car will never not have a turbo motor in it ....so may as well. after looking and marking it out on the underside for room for vents... there are 2 basic areas.... marked with stars..... and I'm probably going with where the big star is.... same area I did on the other mk3. I have a plan though
d.p.n.s
I had a look at the rear valance today ( I had a feeling it was bad ...as they all rust). I stripped it back to bare metal ( if that's what you could call it..... and I didn't even get a pic).. it was full off shifty rust repairs and dents... I did look at palms ideas for a new valance but at over 500 bucks I realized a new valance wasn't on the cards for this old girl......(not yet anyway).... I wasn't to keen on cutting it all out and making it..... so I did the next best thing....... bogged the shut out of it and sanded it back with the orbital sander and primed it........ fucking done. will I had the bog in hand I did a few little spots I had found... 2 on the roof and on the driver's Rea 1/4. and also the petrol flap and radiator mounts. so that's everything that's going bogy colour done.... just have to resend it all with some 400 and fix anything i find.
d.p.n.s
ok so on the bonnet vent situation.. I have set of cheap steel Rendon vents on the way 200x115mm...... not sure I also liked the look of the audi sport quattro front vents ... and in the same sort of place... but hard to find and expensive. and the lancia delta integrale..... just the front one... but again expensive and hard to find. then I looked at the cosworth, escort ..to rounded .. the sierra cosworth almost ..... and then I found them... sierra cosworth rs500... down side won't be here till and of January.. I am hoping he can send me a template of the hole so I can al least cut that and still paint the bonnet.... but might just have to paint that layer on....maybe.
Popular Post d.p.n.s
was having a play with the SC14 for my nephew and looking at the carbs. II found him a set of rover v8 carbs and am going to mount them next to each other. Didn't want to make a base plate and a flange for the carbs and weld some runners in as I'm want them as close as I can to the supercharger. so I've had this idea in my head for about a week now. so I made a start. remember I'm not a engineer and it's all done at home with vice grips and a battery drill so I made a base plate....holes drilled same angle as center plate.. center plate I drilled the holes on an angle to try and get them close to the SC inlet ports and port match to base plate... and used some counter sunk screws I had from my set up. (have ordered some longer ones as I Need them as well. and top plates that space the carbs out a bit so the linkages can move and the butter Flys can actually open.. these will all be sandwiched with gaskets and sealant when the time comes.. but they are close enough now to be able to.make 1 linkage to.move both, all fuel pots sit on the outside ... I think it looks fucking awesome by the time I slap some velostacks or filters on.. cheers...
d.p.n.s
back to my old black mk3... I got everything sanded back 320 then 400 and finally 600. pulled all the masking off the shell and blow it out ..cleaned the garage and re masked the car back up... turned the garage into a bit of a booth to try and keep dust down and overspray of everything.
Popular Post d.p.n.s
then Wednesday evening I locked my self in the garage and painted the old girl.... no more black... it's not mint it shows up all the dents .. but it's clean..the colour is stunning and I'm stocked .... also cost me less than 600 bucks for all the materials..
Popular Post d.p.n.s
then today I covered up the whole shell and understated the underside ( well most of it)...under the guards and the lower half of the engine bay... looks so clean now.

Popular Post d.p.n.s
I have been doing a bit of putting back together. I all so bought the old 14x7 turbos back from Karl.. they all ways seem so much bigger than the 13s. but with some 195s they wit very well .the 13s are 205 . but with a clean , paint and polish.... they will look awesome
Popular Post d.p.n.s
A $600 paint job ,a rattle can of gloss black ,some wanky screws I've had on the shelf for ever and some elbow grease... and the quick clean up job I wanted looks shit loads better than I thought it would. wheels cleaned ,panted and polished. oil cooler in ,intercooler in,heater In, wipers in,engine bay panels in, booster and master cylinder in most of the loom back in.... and boot on 25
Popular Post d.p.n.s
I've been doing a few bits... the problem I have is everything is so clean now it means everything this g else needs to be clean or remade.... factory washer bottle.......... NO. so I bought a alloy one for a torana... blocked the bottom hole off and drilled a new on on the side. a couple of rivnuts into the fresh paint and ....much better.....also mounted the catch can back on. the old fuse box hole ...i was going to weld it up.. but for some strange rrason if you wanted to go back to the old fuse box.... you can.. so I cut some alloy (polished it) and a rubber gasket. and that taken care of. then the header tank.... ( yup more wanky wanky polished alloy)...180sx header tank....perfect. I ran all the wiring on the driver side and a new old stick speedo cable. I got my dad to come and give me a hand to get the windows in...(new rubbers suck ....1st time I've ever used new ones).... I did order some chrome center locking strip for the winthis from the uk ....via youshop... fuckers!!!!! what turned up Is a 2nd hand ladies long sleeve black shirt ... not impressed....didnt even fit ...so they arr looking into that... but front and rear windows in for the 1st time since 2006. I didn't want to use the quick shitty heat sheld I made ... so I took the time to use card and make a new one....even made it line up to the center plate that sits behind the motor for the header hoses...... and yes I polished it...(just that side....painted the other side in high temp engine gloss black........niiiiiicccccçce). other shit ..... only put the reg on hold for 3 months this time... , head is off being skimmed ( will be using the standard cam for now....actually pretty good on a rurbo motor)... ,some more bits arrived for the motor ..so once together I'll slap it in my nephew's mk5 with standard carb ,exhaust and dizzy to run the motor in.. (it's legal and I'll just run it to work for a couple of weeks)... cheers
Popular Post d.p.n.s
paid a bit of stupid tax today .... not financially but definitely in time and effort.. PK from kennally cams message me to say "can I suggest we Crack test the head before you start porting" with this pic. and to be fair a good mate (who i listen to about ponto heads )has told me a few times ...."just make sure you get the head Crack tested before you start..... guess what I didn't do... so I spent a few hours after work today looking at what I have... * found 1 all ready stripped head *2 complete heads (stripped them both). *1 complete motor (pulled the head off and stripped that). I'll drop these off on Wednesday and see if I have a good one to start all over again with. cheers 12
Popular Post d.p.n.s
so this car is going to be carted for a 2.0 turbo ....one way or another.. the engine bay Temps were crazy when I had it running (without the bonnet).. so there is a need to get some under bonnet Temps out and I understand its not everyone's cuppa tea.... but I needed some vents...... and believe me I looked at all of them ....everything alliexpress had to offer lol. . but I ended up going ford .... cosworth rs500 vents.... and not no real ones as I'm cheap .....and even these weren't... also really limited to where to mount them without cutting heaps of under bonnet strength out... worked out perfect... even around the head sheld

But the car is running and driving it is still on a factory motor (apart from ARP head studs) she is running 10psi at the moment and is happy with it.. We are still road tuning and she not legal at the moment ...but I have taken her to a bunch of meets and to work a few time... (its a fun car Lol).
Popular Post d.p.n.s
Fuck me....this poor old girl has been parked up out at my nephews place for a while now and before that it sat under a cover on my drive for 5 weeks..... Thats it under the cover lol Don't worry I havnt sold it ..just got so much other stuff on the go. Building another turbo pinto for my nephew And building a twin carbed Supercharger pinto (because I have mental issues). And putting a mk4 together for a mate. But don't you worry your pretty little heads she will be back one day and I probably pull her apart as I've over thought things and have planes that I don't think I can achieve....but will try anyway. Popular Post d.p.n.s
My nephew dropped the mk3 home for me before we moved the ambulance back into the drive. I've pulled the motor out of it. As I'm tackinb the turbo pff it for the ld28 and a lot of other bits atr going on my nephews turbo motor... This motor won't be going back into my car ...I have another I've been building....but I also have big plans for this car once the ambulance is road legal.... Sat it next to my nephews motor..they look bloody good Can never have enough dirty pinthoes I've also still playing with a supercharger setup and almost ready to test.... (probably sell it all off once i know it works) Bought a side entry dizzy cap for more room Modified yhe SC bracket so I can use a factors fuel pump But looking good with a 6pk belt
d.p.n.s
Also made a base i can run motors on.. so once I have a motor running on it (no way to load the motor up ..but can get them up to temp). I'll slap the SC setup on and see if I can make it work
d.p.n.s
I going to steel some bits of my mk3 motor . So i thought I would pull it down and see what its like.. I mean this motor has done well as it wasba standard motor I pulled down , checked and cleaned and the put it back together with the rings and bearings that came out of it.... it was only ever ment to be a test motor to see if the whole setup would actually work and it does and pretty well... just added a set of ARP head studs. Dosnt look bad for a motor I was learning to tune with and had done about 2000ks and started at 5psi and ended up at 17psi before I pulled it out. But this motor isn't going back in.. Now I know the setup can work its getting some changes... and a motor more suited to running some boost Cheers
d.p.n.s
So this car is on the back burner now while I work out all the upgrades I want to do before cert. I pulled the motor out and stripped it all down (the long block is going to be a test motor for me now)...the rest of the parts filled the boot 😆 Some of the big upgrades planned are. *fully built motor ( forged rods, cossy pistons ,oil squirters, big valve and fully ported head ,kenneally cams turbo cam ,evo 9 turbo. *ecu upgrades (going maxxecu this time around). 1 dash for everything *bigger fuel tank *better front brakes *transmission upgrades (something I've been dreaming of for a year or so now.....just need to get my grubby little hands on one) *and DBW. The DBW was something I've been thinking about for a while now and I run nissan GTIR ITBs on this motor and I wanted to keep them...(pain in the arse to tune....but love the response). DBW ITB actuators are bloody expensive even 2nd hand BMW ones... and I'm not a cheap cunt but I also don't have shit loads of disposable income......so I have a tendency to just try and make shit work. ..and I have my time to try and figure it out So I wondered if I could just convert an actual DBW throttle to control them. I looked at so many (different motors, motor orientation, size of the motor, size of the throttle body, blue location... Ended up going for a 2nd hand BMW 3 series one. $35 So I have a complete GTIR inlet that I have been running and a couple of sets of parts...including a set I used to mock the inlet up on the pinto in the 1st place ....thats didn't have the top throttle linkage where the accelerator cable goes to (percent for what I'm about to do) So 1st thing was to cut the IAC setup of the ITBs (for room na dthe DBW will now do IAC )and cut the throttle body up aswel. I also cut a section out of the plenbase side of the inlet manifold so I can run a arm through there Then all I did was cut a 4mm plate of steel and bolt it to some. Holes on the underside of the inlet... Then welded some captive studs for the throttle body. Found 2 arms the same size to link the 2 sets of of ITBs together with the actuator arm (so the move both together) ..I also left the full open stop on one end (with the return spring) and the full closed atop on the other end.. I then used an arm the same size as the other 2 and drilled it to fit the TB shaft and welded it where I needed it . Was a pain in the ass to make sure it cleared oil cooler, engine mount, block breather) and I could get to the plug. Butall fits and gets full open and full closed. Bloody happy with that.... $35 DBW ITs.... hopefully it works 😆
