Firebrand
I'm looking to buy a small length of 35mm OD aluminium tube to join 2 radiator hoses together - I only need about 6 inches length, but I'll buy more if I need to. Where's the best place to get it from in wellington area? I can't tell if any of the metal suppliers will do such small quantities. I could probably order it from aliexpress but I need it this weekend ideally. Any ideas where to start, or should I just ring around and see? cheers
Transom
I have been looking for the same size does it need the bead rolled onto it to hold rad hose properly ? Bunnings do alloy tubes and angles in 1m or 3m sticks not sure if they do tube up to 35mm? yes Aliex has the joiners cheap as
Firebrand
Ideally it would be bead rolled..maybe I'm better off waiting for ali to send it to me - something like this I guess, but I'm sure there's cheaper ones: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/35mm-1-3-8-inch-Aluminum-Turbo-Intercooler-Pipe-Piping-Tube-Tubing-Straight-L-150/1444885458.html?ws_ab_test=searchweb0_0,searchweb201602_2_10152_10065_10151_10068_436_10136_10137_10157_10060_10138_10155_10062_10156_10154_10056_10055_10054_10059_10099_10103_10102_10096_10147_10052_10053_10142_10107_10050_10051_10084_10083_10080_10082_10081_10110_10175_10111_10112_10113_10114_10181_10037_10183_10182_10185_10078_10079_10077_10073_10070_10123,searchweb201603_4,ppcSwitch_2&btsid=681d8af4-8839-4d1e-837d-bb8d7ad61a31&algo_expid=9e3e3c67-de49-4093-ba0e-206bf47f028a-34&algo_pvid=9e3e3c67-de49-4093-ba0e-206bf47f028a I tried Mitre 10 & Bunnings and the biggest diameter they do was 25mm or possibly 30mm... KKtrips
Try Mico Metals in the Hutt. They have all kinds of non ferrous metals and sell offcuts.

JoKer
Saw a sweet home-made bead roller made out of a set of vice grips once in a Shed Magazine, piece or rod welded to one side (or both?) & ya work your way around crimping it etc
igor
Would a plumber's croxing tool work the same? It should if you could find a big enough size.
mjrstar
for thick wall on radiator pipe (like 2.6-3mm just 3 decent hits (evenly spaced ) of TIG to provide a bit of a bead on, if it's thin stuff then yeah a rolled lip will improve rigidity. Firebrand
Ullrich came through as they are open Saturday morning, I ran out of time on Friday and couldn't get down to Mico. Ended up buying 2.5 metres of tube as it was way cheaper than I though it would be, so I've got some spare for future projects Will update my project thread soon
