felixx
So I have a group of automotive students keen to build me an engine for the angrybox (1500 pre cross flow) So I wonder does anyone have a list of tolerances/ torque settings etc for them to build it good and proper. Beaver
they are like 15 buks. For the sake of your motor not blowing up (which it will probably do anyway if school kids are building it) its well worth it. http://www.trademe.co.nz/books/nonfiction/reference/other/auction-690939397.htm

RUNAMUCK
You gotta hope the shop teacher isn't a fucktard. Or else your motor is going to be fail city. If I knew nothing about engine building, (Some probably say I don't) I'd rather take my chances with some alcoholic bogans, rather than a bunch of hairy arse school kids, and some burned out hack*) *generalisation bout teachers, as those who can do, those who can't, teach. I'd be asking the right questions, Do you have inside micrometers? Do you have regular micrometers? Do you know what plastiguage is? A no to these questions should set alarm bells off. EDIT, you're in chemistry yeah? Think of building an engine, like making your own LSD. One mole out, and you're fucked. (If biology is your thing, my apologies, I was probably drinking when you told me what you did)
felixx
Bart the teacher is very good they rebuilt an escort engine when they built the Macmillan lotus 7 clone, he is thorough and has volunteered his services, thanks for your concern, I'm not in a hurry, wehave kids doing pre apprenticeships/ full time Auto motive academy courses
Willdat?
As a burnt out workshop fucktard (cheers Bart!). I'm suspicious that Felixx's school has an automotive class so there's hope. I have a feeling they were selling a pinto powered kit car on Trademe a wee while back that while hugely overpriced looked well put together.- Edit: what he said. RUNAMUCK
It is in 'goon, so being that goon is mostly bogans, knowing about cars is far more important than knowing bout math, speling, and that other other stuff that the high declie/private schools do. My concern stems from my old metalwork teacher, who was somewhat light on fingers from engineering accidents. At times he was a mean spirited soul, but looking back it was good value. Are you coming to Nats Willdat? And are you bringing more of that porter? I reckon if it wasn't bottled the same morning, it would be most delicious! Positive Ape
love those pre-crossflow 1500s. Well, I've actually driven a sum total of one, in a Mk 1 cortina, but it was ace. It revved so smoothly compared to a pinto. Went well too.
J-W-G
I have the book felixx. I can see if I can get it shipped to me down south as I'm in Burnham if you would like to borrow it?
