Bistro
Ahhh student life, gotta love it! Lookin good man. Always had a soft spot for Mk2s eh (having owned a couple hah). Good to see you keeping on top of the rust, both mine suffered from it pretty bad. You gonna paint it original colour? Don't see too many around that have the original molding on them either so I hope you are gonna keep it hah. These look good with a decent amount of slam and some 175/50/13s!! 79escort
thanks every one! I plan to get it painted the original red for 2 reasons 1 so I don't have to paint in engine bay ect and 2 so its still original haha, the front tires I just got for it are 175-65-13 I think.. I was thinking of getting some 185s on the rear? ill keep all the body original and I have the rest of the trim for it too I am unsure of what ill do with the engine... to go for a 1600 or keep the 1300 and get a bigger carb, lumpy cam and whatnot ill look more into that when I get it painted

flyingbrick
Did ya find out what went into the engine? Good ya got that rust dealt to. Was that an old repair?
79escort
yeah i found 2 small bits of steel.. unsure of where it came from my guess is that it had been sitting under the air filter and finally got sucked in, i still have the steel ill get a photo. the rust was just rust there was no repair although there is a dodgey repair where the spare wheel sits

punkoutnz
Those bits of metal look more like pieces of ring from what I can see aye. I'd say it's spat the rings.
