Rookie
Why don't you dry sump it?
mjrstar
My preference is to steer clear of moving parts, and remember oil starvation is generally from oil having difficulty returning back to the pick-up position rather than sloshing away from the pick-up. anglia4
Has anyone every made one that has bends in the ends to fit around the crank? Whats the best way to get the right shape so it seals?
Rookie
Usually you just chop up a factory sump if that is the case. what I will have to do for my Kent.
anglia4
Hmmm the zetec sumps are made out of the most horrible nasty alloy. I was hoping to build a steel dry sump for it so that it doesn't look like a sump thats been hacked about
My name is Russell
Why don't you dry sump it? Because to do properly is probably 5k? A friend with dry sump settup seems to do more damage than good from it not deing settup 100% properly science wise, which puts me of them a bit. My understanding is with a decent sump design you can push fairly far before you need to be dry? Simple is good?
anglia4
What about putting in an accumulator?
Rookie
A smart man like your self Russell should be able to do it for less than a grand. Have a read of that thread, Billzilla does a good job of explaining it.
My name is Russell
I just want simple / less things to go wrong and done properly. 1K doesnt sound properly done for dry sump, 1k barely covers pipes and fittings in my mind, will have a read though. Spencer
Yea only real major outlay is tank and scavenge pump, read the thread. You could make up a steel sump no worries, Tank also if you can weld alloy.
Rookie
Just use china fittings and hose, they work better than the real thing anyway, just ask Iron Fels/ Slacker Cam. You can make the oil tank out of stainless if you are a real kamudgen. other wise second hand ones can be had off the tard for ~$250. For the scavenge pump just get and convert one of these. http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-accessories/holden/engines/auction-649824547.htm and use the stock pressure pump. Rookie
This looks like a legit option for a scavenge pump. http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Free-Post-Oil-pump-FORD-oil-pump-mondeo-engine-oil-pump-fox-oil-pump/1254147961.html
Spencer
Its a five minute read Russel and its legit, you can get a one or two stage new scavenger pump for not that much if you want. The only secret maths you need is make try and get the scavenger pump pumping more than your engine driven pump (twice as much was his rule of thumb) so it can move enough of the foamy higher volume oil back to the tank. The only tricky bit is really mounting and driving the pump once you have chosen one.

cletus
would be funny to build an entire drag car from china parts. there would be so many catastrophic failures
