Changing cambelt - what else?

Recommended Posts

I've just bought a Mitsi that has a SOHC 4G15 in it. 150K on the original cambelt.

While I'm in there is there anything else I need to change? Tensioner? Water pump?

I'm really cheap and it's a mirage, so I don't want to throw money at it, but likewise I want it to keep going.

List of parts you can replace in order of importance.

Buy these until you reach your budget limit.

Cambelt

Balance shaft belt (not sure if it has one)

Hydraulic tensioner (again not sure if it has one)

Water pump

Tensioner and/or idler bearings

Cam and crank seals (normally cheap enough to just do while you are there but are not super important if they are dry)

Fan belt/s

how long are you keeping it?  if its any length ot time just replace everything . time and time again i get cheap arse customers that dont replace water pump/oil seals etc while we are in there , and come back 20k later complaining of a water / oil leak etc . i note on all invoices for cambelts what parts werent replaced when recommended just to save arguments later.
