Indiana_Jones
Hey guys, heading down south soon, so need to find a new local oldschool friendly mechanic, so keen for some recommendations. Also a decent new school one wouldn't be missed. Cheers, Indy PS. Also suggestions of decent pubs would be handy too.
Willdat?
I'm not sure if Lloyd from toyspeed is on oldschool but he is a top bloke - unfortunately I have no contact details. Except he worked at http://www.citymech.co.nz/ when I used to live in Dunedin. Fuck that's a lingling post - sorry!
threetwoskyline
Yeah, City Mechanical seems to be the go. I've been a few times and they've been good to me. I can confirm they're low-car friendly, but I've seen one or two of Dunedins most famous oldschool cars there when I've been, so I dare say they can handle old cars too. nzstato
If you want the top garage you cant go past KG McLeods. They always have classics (very very high end stuff too) in there as are one of the few garages with dedicated tune up scopes. One of the owners (old family friend) has quite a nice mini and was 2013 MTA garage of the year. http://yellow.co.nz/y/mcleod-kg-waverley http://kgmcleod.co.nz/page1.php

I send most of our work up there when I can and are really easy to deal with. Thumbs up to City Mech too but there are a number of different places in Dunners that I could recommend as well. Mini.Mad
Just came across this post, I work at Automotive Solutions - currently down at the Anzac Ave branch, but usually at the vranch next to Repco. There's quite a few of us that are into old cars - One of the guys used to race Minis, I own Minis, have another guy that is right into his Rootes Group stuff, one that is into MGs and worked as a mechanic off and on since the 60s, and another that is right into his old Toyotas. I even have a large oldschool.co.nz sticker across my toolbox lol

Firebrand
I always had bloody good service from Mark at Car Connection in Kaikorai Valley when I was down there. Reasonable prices too.
