BlownCorona
i would have though 2,6psi would be ideal. this is leading me to think that its a perished/worn/missing seal thats the problem, everything ive read says aim for 3psi
Ned
Mine were fine at 3-4 but didn't go much higher
Beaver
Yeh I had the same thought when I started putting it all together. There is only one place the fuel can get into the bowls ant that is via the float valve. The needle has a rubber tip which seals against a brass/metal seat so suppose the needle tip could be buggered so will start there. They are so stupidly simple that its so frustrating when something isnt right haha. These carbs done even have a rubber diaprham to perish! I had all the jets out yesterday and not a single o-ring or seal in sight so I dont think there is much to go wrong.
peteretep
Have you got a manual with an exploded diagram of the carbs, just to check your not missing any galleries etc and make sure orings are where they should be
Beaver
Nah I dont but Ill track one down. Giving it a few days to calm down before I dig into them haha
peteretep
This is what kind if pump you want to get, I got mine from repco, just quoted the facet part number to them and it was like $80 from memory http://www.facet-purolator.com/cube-fuel-pumps.php
bigmatt4
maybe a silly question but i have had that problem with webbers and found that the float was actually a sink it had a pinhole in it and was full of fuel causing it to not float correctly just a thought
Beaver
Yeh I tested the floats (put them in cups og gas for ages and then shook to see if there was anythign inside) but appeared all good. cheers
Goat
I still reckon it could be the float needle valve eh. I got rebuild kit for my cb400 carbs and when i hold the float up with my hand and blow into the fuel intake i risk blowing all the blood vessels in my face. It seals hardcone. So i reckon it aint sealing and allows the fuel to keep coming in. Get new needle valves all round? /swap the leaking carb with another carb and see if issue is moved. its only that back carb eh?
Spencer
^ I'm with this guy, vacuum test those needles and roll from there
peteretep
rebuild kit from ebay for rot808's carbs was only like $40 delivered
Ned
and for your information, blowing that hard will only net you about 2.5, maybe 3 PSI. Well, thats all i could manage and Dave said he had similar results previously.
KIRK
^yeh and the problem with his was dirty/worn needles and seats? which is what i said from day one lowls. edit:talking about rot808s carbs

Beaver
KIRK for president. Anyways, I dont care about any of you so ive brought a new pump and will get rebuild kits to throw at the carbs them bolt it all up and when it works (touch wood) I wont care what the actual cause was. Hows that for logic.
