flyingbrick
I have heard that wilwood calipers do not have dust seals on the pistons. How much of an issue is this in real life? Are they even suitable for road use?
stillway
depends on the caliper in question they do make calipers with dust seals/boots
Escort Engineering
Dust seals aren't to much of an issue in my opinion because the piston don't retract into the caliper if you are going to run wilwood and ever have to change the pads just make sure you wash the piston with warm soapy water and a toothbrush, but im only going of knowledge of racing background
Snoozin
I personally couldn't see it being an issue on the road vs being on the track. It's not like racecars are exempt from brake dust. But I know of several folks using Dynalites on the road with no issues, and I'll be doing the same at some point in time.
peteretep
i have powerlites on my escort and they dont have dust seals, I have had them fitted for 6 or 7 years and no issues, new zealand isnt exactly a dusty place

Roman
Hmmm I'm in two minds about this. One one hand, it makes sense to have dust covers. On the other hand, after needing 3 sets of nissan 4 pots to build one good set because half of the pistons were pitted because water got behind the dust jacket and stayed there... I guess neither of which really matter for brand new calipers on a 'street' weekendish car that realistically isnt going to do 200,000kms of road travel. peteretep
britain has to worry about salt, nz doesnt comparitively. Thats why dust seals are needed, because someone in the world needs them
