  1. if your still after some im sure its not to much of a hassle to machine some up PM me if you would like something.
  2. Dust seals aren't to much of an issue in my opinion because the piston don't retract into the caliper if you are going to run wilwood and ever have to change the pads just make sure you wash the piston with warm soapy water and a toothbrush, but im only going of knowledge of racing background
  3. Cheers guys I'll try and get some more pics up as soon as I can and have completed something.
  4. Thought it was time for an update so here it is ive been working on my sump for a few weeks now and it is almost complete so here are a few pics for you all to look at The sump started of as a ford escort 1.8l sump which i cut down This i it all cut down didnt take to long to do this with a milling machine Then i got to work folding and filing some 3mm alloy Here it is sitting on the motor it sits quite nicely i think I had to wing the sump aswell The sump still needs some work like the sump plug and a baffel plate and then the oil pickup and it will all be done hope you guys enjoy the pics
  5. May have been mentioned already but when welding alloy grind tungsten to a ball or on a slight beval , gas flow around 7-8 litres a minute and use a gas lens with a number 6 or 8 ceramic so you get fairly good gas coverage , when the pool in the alloy is astablished you will see it go very matelic silver like dull chrome you will see a swirl in the weld pool this is when good heat has been created and the two pieces your are joining should start to fuse, start traveling adding wire if needed but be cautious of the heat as you move along the weld you will have to start traveling faster or turn your amps down. Hope this info is of some help .
  6. Yeah the angle plate would be sweet but no need for 45 degree angle with what im doing , as for the gussets don't think they are needed only time the load is really on the legs is when you take the lock pin out
  7. Hi everyone thought i would do a little article on make your own rotisserie, i made mine about 2 years ago and is probably the best thing you can make for working on your car, you can make one for around quarter of the price of a bought one and the main thing is that you can make it to suit the application that you want it for. The whole frame is made from 40x40x5 RHS mild steel. Im using my rotisserie for a MK1 ford escort i have mounted the front cradle on where the quarter bumper brackets mount with the two bolts that go through the chassis rail so all up the front cradle has 4xM10 8.8 high tensile bolts , the rear cradle is mounted on the leaf spring mount where i have used a M16 bolt to hold it in which is 8.8 high tensile. The pivot point in the middle of the frame is a m20x130 8.8 high tensile they are that long so that when you rotate the car on the bolt it isnt turning on the thread it is turning on the plain shank of the bolt. Here is a drawing of the end frame really easy to make. This is the front cradle which if using for a different car you will need to make them to suit, you can see the two bolts holding the frame on at the front Here is the back cradle it has two bolts through the chassis, you can also see the m20 bolts where the pivot is and the one at the bottom is the locking bolt. Hope this info helps someone out and make there project that much easier, best of luck.
  8. The turbo charged pinto sounds cool, yeah have thought about that box and most likely will get one further down the track.
  9. Hahaha yeah if i was still going the crossflow direction it would be more of a formula ford engine 120hp that would be enough
  10. This is the rubber mount i will be using in the gearbox cross member
  11. You could get a machine shop to make some AN- fittings out of brass i only say brass because it is cheaper and easier to machine then copper, then maybe you can get your local radiator shop to solder them to your header tanks, I hope this is of help .
  12. Here is a little more on the gearbox side of things i had to fabricate a new cross member for it that was 20mm lower then that standard one and about 15mm further back Doesn't have a rubber mount in there at the moment due to the supplier being out of stock
  13. Another thing ive been working on is the water rail for the zetec as the water outlet is at the back of the head Note: Water rail is not finished still working on the plate to bolt onto the head
  14. So ill add some more pics and brief descriptions for you guys Okay so this is my custom pedal box i've been making i haven't seen anything else like it and thought i would make a new replacement for a standard one Just reaming the holes out after welding Master cylinder bias tube
  15. Yeah I was going to go the pushrod direction but more the 1700cc bore out and big cam and big valves but would probably be a little unroad friendly so went with the zetec only because my two road cars have zetecs in them and I know how good they are.
  16. I will get into more detail soon of what the motor is going to have / be, im sorta going crazy doing the photo upload thing lol but the motor will hopefully be 200bhp on quad throttle body's and some quite agresive cams
  17. Also have been doing the gearbox and front brake set up in running wilwoods on the front and am doing a disc conversion to the back with nissan primera p11 calipers Gearbox all cleaned and reconditioned fresh paint makes them look good the box is a 2000e single rail cortina one. Here are the front brakes i made the brackets up at work on the cnc i think they will do the job and look the part behind some 13" wheels
  18. A little more interesting stuff making the engine fit i drew all the engine mount plates up and got them laser cut which makes life easier Exhaust side mount Intake side mount Also the crane in the picture is another one of my projects on the side.
  19. Just a couple more pics of the rot if anyone is interested.
  20. So a little more about the car and other projects that just happen to come up along the way (ie) me getting bored i made an english wheel which i have used for the car a few times now and is quite handy to have
  21. Okay so here we have some more photos pics of rust in the sill on the drivers side and the replacement sill being put on.. so this is what i found when i was prodding at the car with a screw driver then i got hold of palmside and bought a replacement sill which i have fitted as seen in the picture.. Sooo now you have seen most of the rust which isn't that interesting, ill get into the more fun side of thing and more interesting stuff while i was working on the car on the wooden trolley i was getting sick of lying under the car and having to grind welds of and getting showered in sparks so i made a rotisserie which is the best thing i could have done, it makes working on the under side so much easier, i also had to make the tunnel larger as the previous owner had beaten it with a hammer and stuck new metal panel in with seam sealer so i got to work made a cardboard template and then got to work making the steel one.. This is the tunnel that i made welding isn't the best that was the first real welding i had done lol but as you will see the welding gets better. The car was sitting like this for awhile.. The shall on the roisterer that i made best thing ever this is getting later into the project now at this point it was probably one year in.. Okay this is the rust in the rear quarter drivers side Replacement floors where also put in the front also bought from palmside. This is the front of the drivers side sill that sits in behind the guard. And at this present point and time that car is sitting on a frame ready for the blasters it has been like this for awhile now but progress has not stopped ive been working on the mechanical side of things.. The inside of the car all tided up still have to cut the dash out for the gt dash cluster
  22. Sorry forgot to add the motor is all mounted on a standard cross member I decided not to run a worldcup cross member only because I may one day want to put the cross flow back in, the motor is attached to a 2000e cortina single rail box but I'm not convinced it will handle the power , there has had to be no mods to the firewall the only mod done has been a bigger tunnel because the previous owner decicded to try beating the tunnel with a hammer and attached new pieces of steel with seam sealer "backyard engineers" but you will see how it is all going hopefully tonight.
  23. I almost have all the body done just have to fix the lower rear quarter on the drivers side and in front of the wheel arch on the passangers side , I'm going to send it in for media blasting soon so I can see where there maybe more rust but I'm hoping there is no more rust.
