mikey
Now that I've finished punching myself in the cock... Is it possible to helicoil the brake line input on aluminium brake calipers? Suggestions on where to go to fix my epic blowout? Or DIY the go (preferred)?
KKtrips
Repco are a supplier of these guys.. http://www.afsrecoil...ad_Inserts.html They do NPT.. (I guess you meant NPT and not NTP) Go to the "find your product" button..
beachlander
We should have the size at work you need if you get stuck
DJZ
Chances of them being tapered and not a metric thread are pretty slim, what calipers are you using again?
Testament
only the male thread is tapered on NPT threadforms
bubblegoose
it choose a solid insert (ie time-sert) over a wire coil for any fluid fitting just me being pedantic but hey i like to throw my 2c about occasionally

Chances of them being tapered and not a metric thread are pretty slim, what calipers are you using again? Oh, I just guessed NPT. I just checked them with a gauge and they seem just slightly bigger than 1mm pitch. But way smaller than 1.25. So I'm a bit unsure... They're r32 GTR 4 pot Sumitomo calipers. DJZ
Should be M10x1, all of the Nissan 4 pots are I think. What did you do to them?
mikey
I think you're probably right. I pulled the threads on one of them by being a spaz and not really watching what I was doing.
Unclejake
only the male thread is tapered on NPT threadforms This I did not know
mikey
So I think the reason i managed to dick this up so badly is because I have an NPT flare nut in there. So managed to hand tighten it a couple of turns, thought it was OK but it was cross threaded. So will track down some helicoils and some non NPT flare nuts. It'll be interesting tapping the hole without hitting the flare seat...
KKtrips
Most recoil kits come with a bottoming tap and you won't have to go the whole way down anyway as flare nuts don't have thread on the bottom 5mm(ish)...
