Aaron
Cheers all. But the car is rather fucked. Potential blown head gasket. Drove out to Otahuhu to pick up new tyres and was running quite hot, then it started cutting out and then went poop.
Aaron
Anyone got any ideas on an upgraded radiator for a KP61? Or will I have to go with a stock one.
Ned
Just use a stock one... It's a stock motor so stock cooling will be sweet. It's not like it's hot here in NZ or anything haha
Aaron
Okey doke cheers.
Ned
Stock is easiest. Just clean out the entire cooling system and should be like new again
Snoozin
Go and get your radiator cleaned by a radiator shop if you have any concerns, it's not expensive and it'll probably blow your mind at how blocked it will be. Cheap "upgrade" for a neglected cooling system.

dylann
RE: the fan. why dont you get one that bolts onto the water pump pulley and the shroud that covers the radiator? does the job for my 30, takes a bit to heat up but it doesnt worry me. Aaron
I would but there doesnt seem to be a big gap between that and the radiator. Also it looks like it would hit the pipe that goes from the raidator to the thermostat housing.
dylann
ah right i didnt think about the gap, theyre not that big but the shroud may not fit .. ill go out and measure my fan for you now might help you out in some way EDIT Its 6x30cm. so its pretty small, and the shroud is 10cm deep from radiator to edge. kpr
stock fan should work fine, the relay is under drivers kick panel with the fuses, its one of the round silver ones. there will be a temp switch on the water outlet somewhere. that controls the relay. if you unplug the sensor it should operate the relay and start fan. Aaron
Cheers mate, I tried taking the sensor off and plugging in each fan, but it still wouldnt go.
Kevo
Where did you get the radiator from and how much? My car needs a new one as its cracked, and got 50% of the cooling fins missing. I have a working radiator fan motor you can borrow in case your spare one is stuffed as well.
